I am waiting the arrival of my new home theartre speaker system and reciever. I am hoping I picked out items that will work with each other. My 15 year old plus Technics receiver died and thought I would upgrade my ol MB Quart QLC speaker system with a Cerwin Vega 10 inch sub. I finally decided on a Yamaha RX-a720 reciever with Polk RTI A7 fronts, Polk CSI A6 center, Polk FXI 6 surrounds and a Polk DSW Pro 550wi. I hope the reciever has enough power for all of this. My room is 18x12x8. Is there any suggestions any fellow forum members have about setting it all up?

    welcome to club polk.
I think you may want to step up to a receiver that has pre-outs so you can add an amp in the future. You'll get sound from that but at maybe 45-50 watts per channel in 5.1 your maxing it out. Those A7's will need some juice.

Thanks for the input maybe I should have downsized the towers. I never gave consideration to pre outs. The owners manual to the reciever shows you can bi amp the front channel with the surround back/ bi amp channel. Is this a good idea

Theoretically, biamping your fronts could help. Best way to find out is to try it. My guess is that that receiver will have enough power to make you happy, especially based on what you're upgrading from.

There are several kinds of audio people in the world... those than continually tweak are one time (and comprise a lot of this forum) and those who get things working well and just sit back and enjoy it for years (a lot less of those here--they aren't spending their time on forums). If it sounds good, and you're happy, just enjoy.

Not with a receiver. It only has one power supply and you aren't actually getting anymore power

I think that is probably correct. As long as you don't turn your system up to 90 or 100 dbs, you won't damage your speakers and you will probably love what you hear.

I agree that you should enjoy for now. You can always sell that receiver and upgrade down the road if you want, or you may very well be happy with what you have for the foreseeable future.

Right on! I've work in a speed shop for 20+ yrs and see the same thing in cars. They make so much stuff it's hard to no if you are getting what you need.
