Is this worth bidding on or should i wait and get something else. I heard B&K has an upgrade program so that would be ok for later on.

    JD,

First off....and just a suggestion......but with over 4 days left in the auction, probably not something that needs to be flagged as QUICK (people get a bit irked with the ASAP type posts).

The 202 looks to be a good unit, but that all depends on what you have, and what plans you have for your future audio setup's. It is a 5 channel only receiver, so if you plan to go 7 channel, maybe you should look out for the 307's. The versatility of B&K products is incredible, so if 5 channel is where you're at, then I don't think you could go wrong with teh 202, depending on what the reserve price is for that auction. If you have any plans on going HD, then you'll be out on that because there are no component in or outs on that unit either.

Something that you should do is to call B&K to ask them how much the upgrade would run on that piece, realizing that they can't add connections or channels. If you got that thing for $500 and then had to pay $1000 for the upgrade, then I dont' think that it would be worth it.

    Good luck.

p.s. Go HERE to read up on their products, and also to get their contact information on anything that you're looking at.

May be wrong here, but I am thinking that the 202 was already an upgrade offered to owners of the AVP-2000 and was never commercially sold.

I'd check with B&K about their futrue support of this model and what upgrades are currently available for it.
    More later,
    Tour...

JDOGG, I have the B&K 101 receiver, which is identical to the 202 except for the 202 had DTS, and the 101 doesn't being the only difference. Go to the speaker forum and do a search on B&K plus M&K to find my review of it. I would highly recommend it. If you are currently using only 5 speakers, then there's no need to hurry for the upgrade, but at least it's nice to know that you do have that option for later on for if and when the time comes. Also do a search in this electronics section for "should I get this B&K receiver?", and there's a link for a very professional review on the 202. I would post these links here for you, but I'm too tired to dig 'em up right now.

T2M, the 202 wasn't an upgrade. It was sold back in like '99 or so. If it were upgraded, it would be the 212 then

I see you're still whining Brett.
