I have two TSI200 for my surround and a CS20 for my center and two old Mach 1 realistic for my front main speakers. I want to upgrade the front to either the RTI-A9 or the TSI-500. I want to know which would be best for my system. I also have a PSW-125 as a sub. I would appreciate the help. My amp is an Onkyo NR609.

Since you already have the CS20, the TSI speaker would be a better choice.

Considering your current gear, the TSI-500 would be the better choice. The RTi A9's would not timbre match and would also require a separate power amp as your AVR (not amp) will not be able to drive them properly.

Not to mention the A9's will need an amp and his Onk doesn't have pre-outs.

RTia9 is a much better speaker by far but as said above, go with the TSi500. It's the same as a monitor 70. Still a good speaker.

If you want to go that way, you can still get Monitor 70 on closeout for $350/ pair direct from Polk. Mine came in a week ago. They are sold as refurbished - perhaps but not as I can tell. More likely, somebody made a huge inventory error.

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Got to go with the flow on this. TSI-500s can be powered by a TX-SR 609 but not to their maximum capabilities. Even these towers could use a little more juice but the 609 has decent reserves for what it is! You'll have to set that sub at around 80 hz to make up the low end. Those old Ratshack speakers can hit a little "lower" than the 500s but with a sub, that won't matter as much.

    Enjoy!
