Vinyl vs sacd via Sony c333es. Who wins?
My money is on the sacd. Better bass.

I just bought this album this past week. Hadn't listened to it in a while but really liked it when it was popular. Would have to be my second favorite behind Synchronicity.

I have both vinyl and SACD and never tried a shoot-out between the 2. None of the Police SACDs(I have 4) have impressed me for being superior over the CDs. And my A&M vinyl is not sonic masterpiece but I do love the music.

Your gear never fails to impress Jeff! When did you get the new TT?

Nap-Synchronicity is one of my fav Police albums but I didnt see a sacd copy when I bought this one. I have a vinyl copy.
EJ-The disc is a reg sacd. I would like to try a shim sacd but havent bought any yet. $50/cd is a little crazy! The disc sounds good but as Xharlix said its not great as far as SQ goes.
Jake-I got the nothingham last year or do you mean the shigaclone with the old tt cover and base? I love how much better the bass is compared to the denon I had before. I want a new phono preamp now. I need to sell some stuff!

I went out and bought the whole Police SACD 2-ch collection years ago. I have been very satisfied with the SQ. Luckily, I bought them before prices went high. Think I averaged about $10-15 each. Probably one of my best music investments.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Nice gear! Being a long time Nottingham user the table is great but you can get some gains with a different arm. Nottingham uses a mechanically damped unipivot design that you cannot adjust damping. I've used older Micro Seiki and recent production Moerch offerings and realized great gains, better bass. It is worth looking into. That articulated arm pod makes it easy to adjust to different arms, although arm post adapters are sometimes required. Some just require a machined flat washer (found at Ace Hardware) ground at the edges to mount the post mount (Moerch).

I have to give up to get too. You are a handy guy, lots of interesting diy stages at diyaudio. I almost went there until I got the Krell MC issue fixed. It is a jfet design and brought my analog up a couple of notches in SQ with even deeper bass.
