Any Ice Fishers in the Forum? I'am sure all you Minnesotans, and Wisconsites, enjoy setting in the ol Ice shanty. When the Ice is 4 inches thick its time to hit the Ice, it was 8 inches yesterday its been as cold as a withches you now what the past couple of days. It looked like a scene from Grummpy old men yesterday only with portable shantys. Any one else been sitting in thier shantys this winter? The Crappies have been biting pretty good had a fish fry last night.

As a younger man I could be found on the ice fishing and sipping "anti-freez." But now I mostly fish in the frozen food section.:cool:Main Family Room: Sony 46 LCD, Sony Blue Ray, Sony DVD/VCR combo,Onkyo TXNR 708, Parasound 5250,

Tents.....shanties....High Life!!! What kind of fisherman are you!!.......Oh, Iowa, i get it
Real ice fishermen take the weather with open arms, not in some enclosure!!
I actually just grabbed my buckets of tipups from father's house yesterday. He still had mine from 2 winters ago since new england had about 0" of ice last winter. Almost went this morning but my buddies auger crapped the bed.
I don't see any other holes in the ice outside the tents...just jiggin, no tilts?
How many are you allowed to set up at a time? Mass only allows 5 per license.Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -

Yeah Miller High Life is the official Ice shanty beer no use in, in getting excited when you hook on to something and spilling your Becks, or Heineken, those are ice cold waiting for when you return home and clean fish:redface:
You can man 3 hooks per person be it be poles or tip ups. when the wind is blowing and the wind chills are in the negatives, I prefer just to jig and use tip ups on warmer days when you can leave the entry open to watch the tip ups. I guess us Iowan's dont have as thick of blood as you New Englanders.
The best part is watching people chase thier tent all over the lake during set up or take down when the wind is blowing, after a few of them Millers, happend to us last week. Hope your buddy gets his auger up and running so you dont miss out this year.Home Theater

The tent is just another piece of equipment to deal with. That's why we've never had one.
My grand father did just get in his 5lb's of shiners from an online dealer so we're ready to go. It's the only way to do it when a dozen larges go for about $6 which is a complete ripoff! We now have about 1,500 +- for 100. That's a lot of fishing!!
As far as the High Life. I say drink whatever makes you happy. On the ice, you don't need to drink creme de la creme of beer so we just drink Sam Adams Lager. When it gets real cold, the Black Berry Brandy shows her ugly face.Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -
We used to ice fish for smelt ( tent, lantern, beer ). Brings back old memories.Home Theatre.............

Now we used to call that "smelt drinking" but waited till the ice melted and used nets for the little suckers.:razz:Main Family Room: Sony 46 LCD, Sony Blue Ray, Sony DVD/VCR combo,Onkyo TXNR 708, Parasound 5250,

Gee, the one and only time I ever went ice fishing was with a 5 gallon bucket to sit on. Wow, what fun that was in the freezing cold...Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

It doesn't get that cold for that long here in Kentucky, but it looks like it would be some good times with a couple of buddies.
