Going to pick up some new speakers
Kinda excited. I found a guy somewhat local selling a set of never used first Gen Lsi9's in cherry. According to him there is not a scratch on them. We will see. Bringing my Carver amp down there to test them out. He said he never purchased an amp or avr which is why they have never been used.
This is my first step to setting up a small listening area in my home. I love my RTiA5s for movies but I always wanted smaller bookshelves for 2 channel listening.
Naturally I will post pics when I get back

Just advice when picking up new speakers , lift with your legs not your back.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

I have a funny feeling those new 9's are going to be finding a home where those A5's now live...
They are a wonderful speaker. If I had the money just kicking around, I would be doing a full VR3 crossover upgrade. -
Well I finally got them home. They are not properly setup. They are on top of my a5's which is kinda high but until my stands come in it will have to do. But even as they are placed they sound amazing. Holy smokes. They have more bass then my a5's do when they are connected to the same amp. I dont understand at all how its possible. If someone has a link to how they work that would be great.
Imaging is pretty astounding as well. Its a wall of sound in front of me. Sound almost seems not to come from the speakers but everywhere else. I did notice as others have said, you have to be in the "zone" otherwise it soundstage is thrown way off.
The guy said they have never been used. he said he bought them in 07, but never connected them. I looked them over. I cant find any signs anything was ever connected, or even out of the wrapping. When I tested them at his home he was as eager to hear them and was surprised at the sound. I think he regretted selling them a bit

What do you mean slam. They definitely have a solid bass that you feel. Some songs it seems there might be too much for my liking. It could also be that its because they havent been broken in yet. Gonna log some hours and see how they sound then.
I also just found out my AQ King cobras will be here on Tuesday. My system is going through some serious changes.
I dont know what I want to do with the finish yet. I am gonna talk to F1nut and see what options I have. The finish on these speakers is much different then whats on the RTia'sHT Rig Samsung 64F8500 |Pioneer Elite BDP-52FD|Pioneer Elite VSX-32| Two Carver TFM-15cb Bridged for mains|Polk Audio RTiA5 Cherry|Polk Audio CsiA6 Cherry|Polk Audio T-15 Heights|Polk Audio FXia6 Surround|DIY 8cuft Dayton Ultimax 15" powered with a Crown XLS1000

Is it the punch of the midbass that is making you feel that way? Kind of like the 703 vs. the 705, the 703 has more punch to it that makes you feel like it has more bass than the 705. The 703 emphasizes the midbass much more than the 705 does.
lol wish I could relate to that.
These do sound punchy for sure. Its only been a few hours but I havent felt the need to turn the subs on yetHT Rig Samsung 64F8500 |Pioneer Elite BDP-52FD|Pioneer Elite VSX-32| Two Carver TFM-15cb Bridged for mains|Polk Audio RTiA5 Cherry|Polk Audio CsiA6 Cherry|Polk Audio T-15 Heights|Polk Audio FXia6 Surround|DIY 8cuft Dayton Ultimax 15" powered with a Crown XLS1000
