No improvement in sound with Marantz MM7025

The question I have is I have a Marantz MM7025 Bi-Amped to the low input on my RtI-A9's and the highs hooked up to a Marantz MM7055. They are hooked up to the pre-outs of a Onkyo SR-806. The sound is lacking bass. It sounds better when the lows are hooked up directly to the AVR. Does anyone have experience the the Marantz amps? Is this a problem with the settings on the AVR? Is is possible the pre-outs are not putting out the proper voltage and would it be better to go with a dedicated preamp? Thanks for your replies.
