LS90 Resurrection..Impressions.

First off, I wish to thank the helpful members on this forum who helped me a little over a week ago to diagnose the problem with a non-functioning LS90 I rescued from a thrift store..actually a matching set of ls90's plus the cs350ls center speaker. I ordered all new drivers from Polk and they arrived in 2 days.. literally! 30 minutes for a careful install and then... music!
First impression was that these speakers deserve their reputation,,they are that good! Second, the MW7010 drivers that are being used as replacements for the original MW7100s seem sonically identical to me not to mention more robust in their construction. Music doesn't seem colored at all to me through these speakers but I've noticed that especially good live recordings seem literally to ring. Deep base does seem to blend more than midrange or high but hey..I'm delighted by things than can get below 50 hz! All in all, I'm inventing excuses to listen to music again and that is not only my goal but my highest praise.
As for the CS350..? That thing is a joy! I never knew center speakers could add much to music but they can..they really can! Thanks again guys!

Congrats and the LS90s are great speakers. POsitioning is key to these for the best bass and sound stage.
Might consider spiking them and upgrading the caps and resistors.
Now that the dynamat I ordered has arrived I will do that next.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
Preamp: Joule Electra LA-150 MKII SE
Amp: Wright WPA 50-50 EAT KT88s
Analog: Marantz TT-15S1 MBS Glider SL| Wright WPP100C Amperex BB 6er5 and 7316 & WPM-100 SUT
Digital: Mac mini 2.3GHz dual-core i5 8g RAM 1.5 TB HDD Music Server Amarra (memory play) - USB - W4S DAC 2
Cables: Mits S3 IC and Spk cables| PS Audio PCs -
Congrats! I love mine. 90's seem to making a comeback lately...

What positioning seems to work best in your experiance? Also curious about the Dynamat...does it dampen vibrations, like bracing the cabinets would theoretically do?Congrats and the LS90s are great speakers. POsitioning is key to these for the best bass and sound stage.

Dynamat the metal frame of the drivers will eliminate ringing in the baskets.
I found having the LS90s about 12" off the wall gives me clean tight bass. If I get with 10" the bass starts to sound muddy.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

Right now, they are connected to a Yamaha a/v receiver(rxv-520)..I plan though, to get a processor and 3(or 5) channel power amp So I can combine my 2 channel listening setup w/ the HT. My 2 channel amps are an Onkyo m-506rs and a Sansui AU-717..I switch between them as both sound good but different. I use the center and 2 rears when listening to music channels on cable. Set to "normal" in 5 channel with no sub it sounds really nice w/ no grating coloration..!

Cletus,
What did you pay for all new drivers from Polk? I just found a pair of LS90s that need a little love...
