W/C is better rti70, rti100 or rti150?

Need to know asap coz i got a good deal @ circuit city for rti150 for $219 each (open item). I have csi40 and fxi30 with no sub. I have a new pair of rti100 and thinking of replacing it with the 150s. Is this worth it? Running on SONY 1070 right now and thinking of getting a ADCOM to power my floor front spkrs.

I know there are a couple of threads that were posted here before. If you will look around this forum, you'll know that the 70s is the right way to go. I just don't have the specialty yet to explain to you why they stand out from the rest?

The 150's require alot more power to run at there fullest compared to the 100's or 70's. The 100's would be better if your power was in question but IMO at the cost of the mids. The 70's will give you better mid but at the cost of the lows and would be better run with a sub.

In order they would be IMO.
150's W/enough power best all around (high, mid, low's)
100's (high, low's) lacking in mids
70's (high, mid's) lacking in lows

In the end it's your ears that will tell you wich way to go, if you eventually go with a sub. then the 70's IMO would be best.

I own a pair of RTi150s. I auditioned them alongside RTi100s and RTi70s and i have to agree with Dave Shepard's analysis of the three.

I found that with adequate amplification, the RTi150s were the most pleasing to my ears. I'm bi-amping my RTi150s and, after having them for 1.5 months, they still take my breath away sometimes.

I had my RTi150's ran on the Denon AVR3801 (100wx7) for months and the Denon never clipped (I don't turn it up beyond -10 db) before I got an Adcom GFA5500 to power them. I can tell you that the 150s can reach lower, and sound better with the Adcom. So, if you are going to get the 150's, I would recommend saving up another $600 on a used 200 wpc minimum amp to power them properly.

With the Adcom, each 150 reached lows beyond my previously own PSW350. But that was not enough, I went out and got a SVS PB1-ISD and place it in the rear of the room opposite the 150s. I set my AVR3801 on Main+LFE for the bass signal, and now I am in heaven: tight, strong, quick and clear bass all around.

So, the 150s sound great with a multi-channel receiver, but they sound even better with addtional amp. Also, you can add a small sub later even when you already have the RTi150's to acheive high level of bass volume without muddiness.

W/C is better rti70, rti100 or rti150?
