Audible running noise from Denon 3910

So while I'm watching movies on the player I can hear it running. Is there anything I can do about this? it used to I couldn't hear it at all except for when it was loading a disc. Maybe replace the motor? or maybe dust it off?

This is my player, I use it and just want it to be quiet again and know how to maybe fix it if it happens again. many thanks in advance:)

The spindle motor needs a lube job.

Sounds easy enough I suppose. I'll have to do that tomorrow. I figured it needed some kind of lubricant, but to be totally honest for a DVD player at this price.... and I'll stop right there. I've never heard my old 2800. really sad

It's a common maintenance issue with any disc drive motor and that player isn't that much money. I use WD-40 injected with syringe.

Okay I opened it up, should I oil from the side? the back of the motor has no moving parts.

So many things in this player, ridiculous, I"ll my old Pioneer only had 3 or 4 boards in it total, this has 6 or more.

I inject small amounts at a time right onto the spindle shaft at the top of the motor, then spin the plastic disc that actually spins the CD by hand a few times and repeat. Wipe up any excess oil before using. Your motor may be different than the ones I've seen, but should be the same basic principle.

so I put oil on the top of the spindle. and down around the bottom of it best I could. does it take a few minutes of running before it quiets down a lot? I can still hear it, but it has gotten quieter. I had to drip the oil out of a little syringe I had because I didn't have a really tiny one.

Glad I found some disassembling instructions online or I wouldn't have figured out how to put the tray back in, it has a metal bar that is slides on. ridiculous.

If you got enough oil in there, it will be quiet right away.

maybe I need to oil it again? I can hear it from where I'm sitting now:( I'm not sure why, I could barely hear it while it was sitting on the table playing a disc. I'll try again.

Yes, I would try more oil. If you can't get it quiet with more oil, the sleeve bearings are shot.

sleeve bearings inside the motor? What do I do about that? nothing? get a new one?

You bet, something has to keep that shaft spinning true.

If shot yeah, you'll need a new motor.

since we've been speaking it's not as loud. Maybe it is just needing more oil about 30 minutes ago it was loud enough I could hear it from the couch. now i can't hear it, it must be oil.
