polk apeaker connection
I'm new to the forum, and am setting up my HT. My system:
denon 3802
denon dvd2900
klipsch rc3 II center
polk rti100 fronts
polk psw650 sub
polk fxi50 surrounds
also have old but still good set of polk 5jr plus I'm thinking about using as rears
I was curious as to the best connection for speaker wire configs?
1-any utility in using optional sub inputs for the rti100'S? I've read some who claim to hear a difference with biwiring the rti100's even though the lower posts feed the sub.
2-line level sonnect or speaker level connect for the psw650
Thanks for any advice. I got a great deal on the above polks...
$499 for the sub, $100 fxi50, $399 for the rti100's.

Welcome to the forum and nice system. I'm definetly curiose how the klipsh center blends with the 100's. Before you go into anything exotic with the 100's I'd focus on integrating the sub. If you don't have an SPL meter you should really run out to RS and grab the analog version. An Avia settup disc or some variant is a nice to have but from a levels perspective you can use any of the THX settup features on a DVD and accomplish the same thing.
A member of our forum(Burdette) has 5jr's which I had the pleasure of hearing. Rear duty would be fine IMO but are such nice speakers perhaps you could move them to a secondary system in the house and use them for fronts. Just a thought and again welcome.

Adding to HBomb's comments.......
I would for simplicity, run line level to the sub, cutoff at 80hz at AVR, and run fronts on "large". Someone has a cut and paste suggestion for this application....maybe it will get posted. I think the sub inputs for the RTi100 are neat, but they can't handle hardcore, low bass without starting to flap and get muddy, IMO. I think the higher cut will keep them real strong from 80-20,000 and make a better stage for you.
If you want to Bi-Wire, do it later, get set up normally for now. Bi-Wire benefits are on an individual basis, some yes, some no.
Iwould also just stick with the FXi50's for surrounds, don't bother with the 5Jr's....get them working in another application that can rock them like they should be rocked.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Thanks for the input, just rec'd speakers and they sound great!
