Wifey took me as an early B-day present to see Buddy last night at his bar in Chicago. What an awesome show!! At 76 years young he can still put it out there. Talk about a man with stage presence. He played the crowd like only Buddy can.At one point he played a solo while walking through the whole bar. Everyone had a chance to be within a couple of feet of him.

We got there about 6:00 for a 9:00 show. It's SRO about 5 mins. after the bar opened at noon so we weren't in any hurry to get there. We were lucky and were able to squeeze in at the back just front right of the stage. I don't think the folks were extremely happy with us but oh,well. He played for 2 1/4 hours. He played some standards and some songs off his new cd. He also played a Clapton tune and finished off with a tribute to Hendrix. He said that when he was done he had to jump a plane to D.C. Something about an Inauguration he was asked to go play at.

One of the best shows I've ever seen. His band was awesome and Buddy's guitar just soared all night. He only plays 16 shows a year at his bar and they're all in January. If you can ever get a chance to see him,you have to.

Always wanted to hear him live...gotta get there soon.

Not to thread-jack, but hopefully you'll appreciate this story.

My roomate saw him at Summerfest in Milwaukee about five years ago. He was on one of the free stages. He played longer than all the other stages. Lights were turning off and they were trying to close the grounds, but everyone(a couple thousand people) were stopping at his stage because he kept playing. After awhile, one of the security/staff members went up on stage between songs and said something to him. No one could hear what the staff member said, but Buddy leaned into the mic and said, "Boy, I've been playin' the blues for 60 years. What makes you think I'm gonna stop now?"

My roomate said he played for about another half hour...

I am so envious........been wanting to see him at his club for years. Glad you had a great time! Buddy has emerged as my all time favorite blues player. So many current players have been influenced by him.

i've seen 6 or 7 times over 20 years..energy! high energy! the guy is just not aging...the 1st time i saw him was in 92..he just released 'damn right' and 'feels like rain'...my buddy and i were out w the girls..we had perfect seats, elevated above stage level, about 25 feet back...this was at a small theater in poughkeepsie.....during one song, the girls went to powder their noses..we said bring back some beer! while they were at the bar, buddy was there having a drink, while playing a solo with one hand, while flirting with the girls...we did'nt have a clue! must've been scoping some chicks;)

lately buddy has a habit of talking alot...he still kills though
