I've got all the pieces of my ht finally settled except a pre/pro. I'm pretty much sold on the B&K Ref30 but before I make the move I'm wondering what the consenses is on which pre/pro also does good 2 channel. Ref 30's can be had for less than a grand used now so I want to stay in that area. Thanks. btw I haven't heard a Ref 30 or any pre/pro for that matter. Just going off of reviews.

I'd look at the Anthem Tlp1 pre-amp as well. Competitive to the B&K and I think it retails for $699 or less.

Kelley,
Nice choice if you decide to go with B&K. I have the PT5 / ST125.2 for my two channel rig and love the sound. Very warm and inviting.
The word out is that on Dec. 1 B&K has dropped prices on the Ref 50 and AVR 507 by $1,000. Not sure what this will do to the used Audiogon market, but may make prices drop further if one can get a Ref 50 brand new for $2,000 from an authorized dealer.
The Anthem is another fine choice. Also a very musical pre-pro is the Audio Refinement Pre-2DSP. I listened to an Audio Refinement integrated over the weekend at a dealer and was impressed with its sound. The Audio Refinement doesn't have as many features / versatility as the B&K / Anthem though.
Others to consider would be the Rotel RSP 1066 and the Outlaw 950. However, the B&K, Anthem, or Audio Refinement will perform slightly better musically for two channel than the Rotel or Outlaw. Of course this is a subject for debate as personal preference comes into play here as well.
