I have a job offer in Redding, CA. I 'd be moving there with the family (school age ones too)

Anyone ever live there or have thoughts on the area?

I should be making a house hunting trip in the next few weeks.

Suggested better areas for housing?

Thanks for the input.

That's what I initially thought about the housing, but it is very reasonable for CA. 300-400k for a 3 or 4 BR.

It's funny, the wife wants suitable kitchen (updated), so many baths, schools, etc. I just want a suitable place to properly set up my
speakers and have room for a portable HT pop-up screen.

I've been through there several times. One time was 105 and I was on a motorcycle, but then you start heading uphill and I love it up there in the whole Shasta region.

Redding is a bit of a flyfishing destination. Upper Sacramento River is gorgeous, many other places to go as well. Only and hour or so from the redwoods, too. If you like the outdoors, I think it might be great!!
