Looking to get my **** kicked.

Okay, my boss is moving to Australia next month and after seeing the gear coming from the club polk forum, he asked if I'd be interested in his old Kenwood amp, tuner and wharfedales.
He said the amp is a KA-88 and the tuner is a KT-58.
He has no idea what they're worth so I automatically offered
him $20.
He's a nice guy so I'd like to try and offer him something reasonable. I haven't been able to find any references to them on the web so I'm wonder if you folks can suggest any other audio for sale sites just so I can get an idea of what the equipment is worth.
The closest thing I could find on Kenwood's site is a reference to a KA-880SD. It's in the approximate time frame but I won't know for sure until he confirms over the weekend.
I've tried www.audiogon.com so far and google doesn't return many useful hits.
The **** kicking will probably occur if I drag home another couple of pieces of equipment to my wife who can't fantom why I'm collecting this stuff. Therefore, I want to make sure it's worth it.
regards
Dave

I have a KA-880D in the original box......... somewhere around here. It's really minty. It was made from 87-90, and is 100 wpc. It sold for about $430.
The KA-88, was available from 89-90, had a 7 band eq aboard, was the same 100wpc, and sold for $270. I'm thinking not much of a 4 ohm capability.
If you're going to get your **** kicked, get it kicked for something worthwhile. OR, get it kicked because you just got a new garage amp that you only paid $10 for. Capiche?
The tuner was from the same time period and cost $140.
Offer him $40 if you want to be a nice guy (for BOTH pieces, they're not worth more).
When he gets to Australia, tell him to listen to some Krix Bros. speakers. I heard a pair of those when I was over there that only had two 4" woofs, and a tweet between them. If I hadn't heard it I never would've believed it. The low-end on those things was incredible.
Now, if she DOESN'T kick your ****, and you get heartbroken about it, you can come over here and say something about my mom. Hands down that'll get it!

I BELIEVE our quiet friend is trying to express his disdain for moi. I BELIEVE that is "The Tard Dance". I BELIEVE that if our friend from Minnesota isn't either Frank Van Alstine or Jim Winey, he can go **** himself. There Doc, see how easy it is to speak your mind instead of **** little ditties like that? Go **** yourself again if you have the time.If you have any friends in Paris, well they can go **** themselves too.
Your Pal,
George Grand (of the Jersey Grand's) -
I'm sorry for ever posting that **** in the first place, I truely, truely am. Poor taste to say the least, that and it has NOTHING to do with anything in this thread. That being said, it very may well be a direct CHEAP shot, and all that that implies. THAT is just plain wrong.
On another note, what is that? Kentucky Rye? It's not St. Augustine, could be of the Bermuda variety - whatever it is, sure is GREEN for this time of year. Must be that military grade manuer.
Cheers,

That mon friend is a blend I buy from an old flying buddy. It is actually called George's Special. I busted my **** to have the nicest lawn on my block. Busted up every square inch of my yard BY HAND. Put down good seed and installed an irrigation system. When my nextdoor neighbor realized that my beautiful lawn was going to "showcase" his **** lawn, the cheap screw son-of-a-**** planted zoysia grass. It is beginning to encroach on my lawn. If you're not familiar with zoysia grass, it is basically a weed that is low maintenance, looks like ****, and spreads and takes over EVERYTHING. It is for lazy, cheap **** that don't mind **** the people around them. I'm going to burn his **** house down as a gesture of bad will towards him. I hope he appreciates my efforts. Maggot.
This morning I got a call from a painter I contracted to do the entire interior of my home. He wants to start Monday first thing. That gives me tomorrow to move all the hi-fi in this house into my stereo only room. Tomorrow is going to suck.
Thanks for the brotherhood Doro and RussMan.

George.
I grow zoysia and I am not a "lazy cheap ****." Boy, what a cheap shot aimed at all us hard working zoysia growers! Really not a nice thing to say.

Joe6,
Your opinion might change if you put in the kind of time and effort that I did in order to have a really nice piece of turf. The irrigation system cost me two grand. All my efforts are soon to be for nothing.
I think if you were in my shoes you'd think different. Do you tell your prospective buyers that inserting your product into the ground will make THEM happy, but their neighbors will hate them?
The same situation occured on the adjacent street, except the encroachment was onto the mayors property. She took the offender to court, and she prevailed. The guy had to pay to have the zoysia removed from her property, and sod re-installed. Not that it will matter a whole lot, cause the zoysia will be back.
Sorry pal if you're the industrious type, but your product should be banned.
Incidentally, that picture was taken last week. MY grass is still a nice lush green. Except for the areas that have already turned yellow/brown because it's infested with zoysia. My neighbor? His looks like **** year round, cause that's what it is.

Hey Doc,
Just so we're both on the same page................
"Mr. Sensitive" just got finished changing his ADOPTED, SEVERELY NEUROLOGICALLY HANDICAPPED (spelled retarded in your world), 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS dirty diaper. She likes the clean, fresh ones. Do have any interest in the soiled ones? I can get them to you if you like.
My wife and I undertook this "insensitive" chore about 16 years ago. This has been our life for the last 16 years. It rotates around the needs of our daughter. Dinners out? Nope. Go to the movies together? Nope. Any semblance of what most people would call a normal existence? Nope.
And your contribution to mankind would be? Living in "Toonland?"
George Grand (of the Jersey Grand's) -
Dr. Sound,
Poor taste, EXTREMELY poor taste. As a group, the concensus is that type of thing is best left elsewhere, there are plenty of other sites on the web for that sort of thing.
You will find that antagonizing Mr. Grand will not win you many friends around here, starting with me. I've known George for a few years and been lucky enough to spend time in his home and what he tells you, you can take to the bank. Stand up guy that George is.
Although, don't let him kid you, he spray paints his lawn. How else could you explain him having the only green lawn north of Richmond VA in Feburary? Seen it with my own eyes and STILL don't believe it.

Hey Joe 6,
Meet you over at Off Topic for a zoysia revelation.
George Grand (of the Jersey Grand's) -
George
I did not mean to imply that I sell zoysia. After rereading my post I can see how you thought I was a commercial grower. My choice of words was not very good. My mistake. Sorry about that.
I have had this type of lawn for 20 years. Whenever it starts to encroach where it is not wanted, it gets a shot of roundup. I live in the woods so the zoysia will never make it to the neighbors. It can't grow that good in the shade. If it could handle the shade, it will never get past the honeysuckle and ivy. Zoysia is a real candy **** compared to honeysuckle. Four of my five nearest neighbors have this type of grass and only one is a cheap, ****.
As for the zoysia looking like ****, well that is just an opinion. Some people like Polk, some like Klipsch. Green grass in the winter? Well on some of my land I have fescue. During a mild winter I have to mow it. I sure am glad not to mow the zoysia year round.
Here is a suggestion for you. I believe that there are certain fertilizer mixes that will kill zoysia but not other types of grass. You should check this out. Kill the evil zoysia while fertlizing your lawn. That would be a good solution. Of course if Troy is correct about you painting the lawn then the paint should kill the zoysia.
I worked as a teacher of handicapped children for a while. There is nothing funny about this subject. It is not an easy thing to deal with.

Yeah! Let's get back on track!! We were talking about getting my **** kicked here! Well, it seems I don't need to say anything about Mr. Grand's mother to get things started, just his lawn.
Although in all seriousness Mr. Grand, you and your wife should be an inspiration for the dedication you've shown your daughter.

p.s. I keep asking about your motivational cd and books in the stores. Nothing yet.Time is the best teacher. Unfortunately it kills all its students. -
Thanks for the kind words Dave. Tiff is a sweetheart, and could grab anybody by the heartstrings.
I am having a few legal problems that I am letting my publisher (Dorokusai) straighten out for me. The books and cd will be out shortly after I do 5 to 10.

**shameless sucking up to follow**
George and his family ARE an inspiration, restores ones faith in humanity.
While George is in the joint, I'll be taking care of things 'round the Grand ranch. The least I can do for all he did for and to Wendi while I was gone.
I'm telling you, he spraypaints the friggin' lawn. No secret there.

If you had ANY idea how much I mulled over a Charleston tdy while you were sucking sand. I passed up two or three. Also considered sending her a round trip ticket to The Azores whilst I was entrenched there. To my dismay, there were far too many people there that know my charming wife doesn't speak with a southern accent.
Blow up your tube pre yet?
George Grand (of the Jersey Grand's) -
Heh heh heh.......
Am I supposed to think that carton of Luckies was for my dad? Riiiiiiiiiight.
Nope, I haven't managed to blow up the CJ....yet.
