Amplifier problems

I installed a Polk PA880 amp today. Bought it online. Ignition turned off Amp to battery cable discconected from battery (8ga) and (8ga) ground. Did not have speaker wires or RCA connected to amp, connected power, remote, and ground to the proper places. Connected power cable back to battery. Reentered truck where amplifier was connected. Amplifier started to smoke. Dissconnected battery cable. checked the fuses to the amp both are fine. The amp will not power on. pretty sure it is fried. Any ideas why this would happen? Put my old MA audio amp back in and it works fine.

unfortunately I did not it was on ebay not. It was new though.

Sorry you're having a problem. Calling Polk CS is a good idea, but they will not be available this Monday, but Tuesday they'll be back.
