Just picked up some Focal speakers
So I've never heard them and they came up on Craigslist for $300 for the set. Focal Chorus 726S towers and 706s rears, with the matching center (the bigger one).
The wood work while fake is beautiful. I offered the guy $200 and he took it. The only caveat is that two of the tweeters were blown. One in a tower and one in a bookshelf. I bought them, took them home and realized the tweeters were physically identical on all 5 speakers. I simply took them out and swapped them. Yeah, I have two useless bookshelves but hey, I have two extra midranges for the towers in spare parts. (also matching).
Anyways I hooked them up, tested them on my test rig (office mess) and then moved them out to the living room. They replaced my VM30s and center.
I have to say, they're pretty good sounding. More bass than the VM30s but less than I'd expect from a speaker that size. The treble and vocals are spot on. The inverted dome tweeter is very very sharp, as the details just seem to flow from it. I like them, and they're definitely staying.
Now I have some RT55s, CS250, CS245i and VM30s sitting in the garage.......
But wait, there's more! Some good fortune came in and it looks like we're moving into a larger home. Right now I have one oddly shaped living room and 3 small bedrooms with a decent sized master. The new home has 3 living areas, a media/theater room and huge bedrooms. What does this mean? The time of multiple systems has come around once again.
Too bad I sold almost all of my "great" gear this past year. Even my Carver TFM25 and Adcom 555. I still have some separates left so you can rest assured we will have a 2 channel room.
Now...does anyone know where I can possibly find those weird tweeters so I can fix the two bookshelves? I'd hate for them to go to waste, however I don't want to spend $300 for replacements.

Very nice! You got a fantastic deal.
I have the 705s bookies.
Watch ebay for those tweeters. I saw a set a month or so ago on there.
Congrats. -
You can't beat those speakers for the price; congrats!
Does the tweeter have a model number on it? Focal parts are pretty big in the DIY community, so usually spare parts can be found if you know the model number. I'd be happy to help you track some down. -
Do they have the TNV or TNC tweeter? [curious] Oh, my manners. Congrat's on your purchase!
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
You can also email the serial numbers of you speakers to Focal and they will give you a price for the correct tweeter.

I tried to look for their information and either I'm blind or embarassingly inept at finding the information. I have the serials at home. How do I know if i have the TNC or TNV?
These things are going to sing in the new theater. AND I don't have to get rid of any of my Polk gear. I'll have a Polk setup probably until the day I die.Main Surround -

The model should be stamped on the back of the tweeter.

AH, let me check tonight if I can find them in the garage. Since we're showing out house for sale it's really difficult to find stuff. We had to move all the extra stuff to the garage!Main Surround -

Congratulations on the speaker buy,and the new place.
Enjoy Dan -
Great find congrats!

Great price on those. Some of the Focal inverted domes are "superb". They throw up an enveloping sound stage that is almost holographic (all around you from just two speakers!). One of my favorites. And, no the bass won't be prodigious but very fast and "accurate"!
Enjoy your "steal"!
