Home Theater Reciever

I am posting this for a buddy of mine. He is looking for a decent home theater reciever for his setup.
Here are our requirements (not too many)
1. Use Audyssey and have MultiEQ XT minimum
2. Have a couple HDMI inputs (more than 3)
3. Have powered Zone 2
4. HDMI upscaling for composite sources
More than likely he will be buying Polk Monitor series speakers to run with this so he doesn't need crazy power. It doesnt need to have pre-outs (but they would be nice), doesnt need more than 5.1 (but again 7.1 would be nice).
Budget is around 300-400 shipped depending on the model.
He was and still is looking at the Onkyo TX-NR609 so that kinda gives you an idea what he is looking for.
Let me know if you have something.
Thanks in advance.

You can pick up a Marantz SR8001 used on e-bay once in a while that has everything your friend is looking for.
These thing listed for $2000 bucks back in the day. A friend of mine got one 2 months ago for $325.
It sounds great and works well. You have to connect the video output of the receiver to a tv though. The set-up menu is displayed on your tv, not the receiver. I think this thing puts out 115x7 @8 ohms. It does have pre-outs to run external amps! -

Prefer NOT to use ebay honestly. I trust folks on this forum, and Accessories4less but thats about it ."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)
