4ch 200ASC ICEpower Amp - Price: $600 shipped

This is a custom built 4 channel amp using the ICEpower 200ASC modules. It was assembled by Tim Rawson in a Diy Enclosures case and the parts + wiring are Vampire Wire. It outputs 100wpc @ 8Ω and 200wpc @ 4Ω. I have used it both as a surround amp and for bi-amping to good effect. This amp runs cool and only uses 40watts at idle and <2w in standby. Standby mode is triggered after 15mins of no signal. These modules are used in other high end amps, such as the Bel Canto S300 which is a stereo amp that retails for over twice my asking price.

I spent well over a year (see thread) trying to find a cool running, good sounding, inexpensive amp for my surrounds. During that time I owned PS Audio, Rotel, Sunfire, Earthquake and NHT amps. I couldn't find what I was looking for so I had this amp custom built. As for the sound, these have the typical ICEpower sonic signature. Bass is tight and strong, mids are natural, and the highs are detailed though slightly recessed. This amp is very transparent and sounds excellent at any listening level.

Condition:

This was customer made for me in September 2008 and has been in my system ever since. It is in good condition but has some cosmetic issues, namely there are some pinhead size chips missing in the paint. I touched up the majority with a black marker and as a result they no longer come out in pictures. See pics on Flickr .
