thinking of getting a pair of 805's if they don't go for stupid money.have 10a's since 1980.just ordered a psw1000 on the bay hoping it will integrate with the 10's.have a fairly large listening room and am wanting more on the bottom than the 10's have.I know the 805's will need a sub as well.

Which 805s are you looking at?

    There are several versions: 805S, N805, Matrix 805, 805D, and 805 Diamond

Very different sounding from each other. the 805 are more fwd sounding. What tweeter do you have on your 10's?
Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.

I've never heard a B&W speaker that I could live with for very long. That in no way means that they are bad speakers, just not my cup of tea.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Polk Monitor 10’s are great sounding speakers IMHO. I replaced a pair of 10B’s with a pair of Harbeth 7ES-3’s and there are times when I really miss the 10’s. I paid ~$3K for the Harbeth’s and Skylan stands and sold the 10’s for $85 and feel I’m way past the point of diminishing returns.

I enjoy both Polk and B&W speakers, so trust your ears.

The 805s are great, but you will need to find out what model as they do sound different. They are great because they have the signature B&W sound, but are easy to place and will need a subwoofer to fill out the bottom. Be careful on the price though because some of the Diamond models are WAY overpriced on the used market.

I work for a B&W dealer. I have used a number of their speakers. I would skip the 805D and try the CM9s. I also dont think your ASW1000 will be a good match for any of the newer B&W speakers. Now if you want shelf speakers and the CM9s are just to big I would demo a pair of CM5s.
The ASW608 is a small sub but has loud, deep, clean bass. Its cheap ($600ish) and would fit your new speakers.

The 805D speakers are great sounding speakers. Very clean and accurate. Maybe to accurate for some people.

What else is in your system and what type of sound to you like/prefer?

Depending on the rest of your systems and listening preferences the B&Ws may or may not be a good fit.

I know there is not a lot of "love" by some here on CP for B&W speakers - but I own a set of CDM1NTs -which use the Nautilus tweeter and in my system I think they sound very good indeed. But then I tend to like detail w/ spacious soundstage at medium volume with well recorded jazz or 'classic' rock. And the rest of my components are characteristically described as warm or neutral - so there is some synergistic balancing with the detail sonic character of the B&Ws.

The N805 has a good rep - you should listen to them for yourself though before dropping any coin.

If you like to "crank" your speakers, I don't think 805s are the right choice. Two way monitors in general do not stay polite when they get loud.

Can you look at larger speakers? What's your price range?

I had the B&W 805 Nautilus before and much prefer the Usher Be-718 over the B&W 805
