Rogue tempest magnum preamp....NICE!

I finally bought a quad of 6dj8 tubes for the phono section of my Rogue Tempest magnum preamp. Today morning I installed them and hooked up my Dual TT. Until now I was using the phono section of my old Marantz receiver. What can I say but ... WOW! Lower noise floor, sharper image, shimmering highs .... everything sounds so much nicer.
I also tried using the Rogue as a phono only and routing through my Dodd tube buffer. The Dodd buffer (which is an incredibly nice piece of equipment) smooths out the treble without loosing any of the detail. Sounds terrific at lower volumes and with jazz vocals.
Just had to share my excitement. I can't imagine how much better the sound will get with a better TT.

it's nice when it comes together eh?
Tubes RuleJC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
Hi George!
Been a long time since we talked. And yes tubes rule. The tubes in the phone and pre/buffer do a great job of smoothing the brute power of the Odyssey stratos mono power amps that drive my maggie 1.6. -
Are you using the Tempest strictly as a preamp or using it as a power amp also? I am looking at Rogue for preamp and phono pre.

Aargh...my mistake...it is a Rogue 66 magnum not a tempest. I had an Odyssey tempest preamp and got confused.
