Giving Thanks

Regardless of your religous affiliation, or lack thereof.....
It is the time to give Thanks for what you have, and forget about what you don't have but wish you had.
I'm thankful for my wife and two children sleeping above my head in a warm bed, with a solid roof over their heads, the security of a good breakfast awaiting them, a turkey in the refrigerator that we'll cook at a time of our choosing, in an oven that works, connected to an electricity grid that will be there without us thinking about it.
The husband of my wife's best friend ships out December 15th to Kansas, then to either Afganistan or Iraq. He'll miss two Christmases with his wife and children. The family that my office adopted for Christmas doesn't have the money for diapers or toys. My kids don't face a winter without a decent coat. I don't imagine any of us here.. with an internet connection, talking about speakers, REALLY faces a hardship we can't overcome... yet it is easy to believe we're suffering.
I urge you to become aware.. REALLY aware... of what you have and what you do NOT lack. I urge you to give to others this season, and every season.
Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Polkies. Be happy and Thankful that your greatest worry is frequency response and not whether your kids or your family will have enough to eat.
As the pastor at our church said, as you climb the ladder of life, look BELOW you to really gain perspective of where you are, rather than above you.

Thanks Burdette.
Very well put. Reading your post made me stop and think about things in perspective. We tend to dwell on things that we don't have and want rather than be thankful for what we have.
Happy holidays to you and your family bud.

There is no greater act of humanity and compassion, than to reach out to others that are less fortunate.

A Special Thanksgiving Wish to all of our Service Men And Women for a safe and Happy Thanksgiving day.
It's easy to get completely wrapped up in the Thanksgiving Day traditions and forget those that are away from their famalies and friends today. So when you sit at th table today and enjoy all the comforts of home, the warmth of friends and family, keep these heroes in your thoughts and prayers. When you are watching your children fight over the wishbone, remember that are children wishing that their mom or dad were there to share the Holidays with them. When your enjoying the football game, remember that there are those watching out for you in a far away land. When you sneak into the fridge tonight for one last piece of turkey, remember those that are keeping our way of life safe for this generation and the next.
God Bless them all, and God Bless you and your family.
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to you and yours. -
I am Thankful for my family and job. I am thankful for the two wonderful boys I have. I could not ask for two better son's. I hope all of our troops home and abroad have a safe holiday, and am thankful for all that they are doing.
I hope all of you have a great turkey day. -
I'm thankful that I live in a place where if you want more speakers you can work harder and get them!
