I was thinking of upgrading from 5.1 surround to 6.1 or maybe even 7.1 What would be some good matches for my system. Thanks

Mains RTi70's
Center CSi 40
Surrounds FXi50's
Subwoofer PSW 505

Another CSi40 for a 6.1 system would be a good match.

You could also go with a pair of RTi38's for the back portion for the 7.1 setup.

Stay with your lineup, the RTi 's, to keep everything timber matched. Both of those I think would top off your system. Unless you wanted to go with another pair of RTi70's for the rear.

If you are interested I know there are a few CSi40's floating around here on the board as well as some RTi38's. I'm sure you could get a good price on either.

Thanks for the reply fgr41. Do you think another pair of FXi 50's would sound good as rears?

70's would be a waste for the rears, it's more of a fill in speaker than anything else I think. Go with the 38's

    I vote CSi30, stay 6.1.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Yeah I think they would work great as rears in a 6.1 setup. They could also work good as side speakers in a 7.1.

Everything really comes down to budget and supply.

why stay 6.1? i have that capability on my receiver and an extra speaker i just never hooked it up because of room constraints. is 6.1 a nice improvement?

Airplay - I am actually 5.1(6.1), and in the same boat as you. I don't think its worth it to bother with 7.1 in the room that I currently occupy. RonP and Scottvamp type rooms make much more sense for 7.1 than most average sized rooms, IMO.

The single rear center, should fill in the hole I have for effects perfectly. That's I guess why I say stay 6.1...hell, I don't even know now. :)

I also think the CSi30 as a rear center would do just fine for 6.1, if that's your pleasure.

gguess No the 50's are not recomended for the 7.1 set up. I was looking at the same thing with 50's and 30's. But the polk CS told me that they and the Dolby Digital people say to use a pair of traditional direct radiating speakers for the rear's. A set of RTI 4's or 6's would do the trick aswell. The wife is getting me a set of 4's for x-mas. I listened to the 4's and 6's and to me for rear ch the 4's will work fine.
As for 6.1 or 7.1 up to you Is it gona eat away aat you that you could have 1 more speaker in the rear? or will you be happy with the 6.1 up to you.
