I have a pair of RT55's that I want to keep and need a center to match. Does anyone know if any of the newer centers (cs10/cs20/csiA4) would be a decent match or should I be looking to find a used CS400 or some other center? Thanks much.

I would go for the CS400 if you can manage it. It's a great center and will match perfectly. I'm sure others will give opinions on how well the newer centers might timbre-match. I don't have much experience with units newer than your RT55s.

thanks. I was afraid of that - can't seem to find any CS400's anywhere. Might have to try a less than perfect approach if I can;t find some for sale.

Where are you located? I see them every once in awhile on my local CL.

Welcome to Club Polk BTW! Check your wallet at the door. We're REALLY good at spending OPM

Ken, I'm in the Boston area and thanks for keeping an eye out. Thsmith, that's my backup plan actually, thansk for the input. I called Polk a few days ago and they said while no new center would really timber match the RT55's my best shot would be the CSiA4/CSiA6 as opposed to something like a CS20

A CS350LS is a pretty good match as well. Good luck!

I have used the CS245 as well as the CS400i with RT55's in the past and both worked well. The 400, of course, was the better center channel, but the CS245 will do okay if you can't find the CS400. They both have the same tweeters.

Thanks ken and jimbo for excellent suggestions. I wanted the cs400 with all the great reviews but just measured and would need one less inch of height to fit the cs400 without major reconfig. After your posts I looked at both cs300LS and cs245 (and cs225 which is hard to get info on) and while none of these seem to match the quality of cs400 they both would fit, be relatively timbre matched and would be a good upgrade over current center csi20. Now to the Wanted forum I guess since the only one on ebay looks pretty beat up.
