I have been tooling around w/ this idea of hanging my tv for years now. It's a 37'' Toshiba and it's looks great.
I do not think a 37 is "wall worthy'' for some reason. Now I have about 9' of straight on line of sight
space. Right now it sits on a 4' cherry cabinet that if mounted I would use to house my audio gear.Ideally I would love a 42'' and that would work but a 37 I just don't know. Yes if I do mount it I would get a bracket that would hold a
larger model so if it goes I'll be ready for that.My camera does not load for some reason so no formal pictures but it's an 18' wall w/ a front door to the left ,a bookcase/cd rack, the tv cabinet ,my audio rack and a closet. This is one
thing if I do it I have to live with .The cost between just a bracket and getting a larger set is a major concern. My
front speakers would also be hung so that's also in the mix w/ space.

I love the look of my wall mounted TV. I have a 70" set, so once I wall mounted it, it moved it back about a foot and really opened up the room. I'd urge you to make sure you run all the wires "in wall" behind the set. Personally, I don't care for the look of a wall mounted TV with wires hanging down off it.

In the end, it depends on the look you want. A lot of people like there gear to be in the open, where everyone can see it. Personally, I went the opposite way. My gear is enclosed and tucked away so you can't really view it. However, I have a minimalist setup so I could do that pretty easily.

I just recently wall mounted my 50" and like badchad said it really opened up the room. I think 37" would be fine adorned with your audio gear around it.

How do people feel about covers/tubes to disguise the wires? I live in a rental property where running wires in-wall isn't an option; I'm sure many others are in a similar situation.

I have hung my 47" since day one (2008), and would never go back. The TV also has ambilight built-in, so having it against the wall also improves the lighting effect.

As for a wire cover, I currently use a cotton sleeve that matches the wall color that velcros closed on the back side. I really like it because if you can match the color and have textured drywall, the cotton has a very natural and soft look that disappears into the wall more than any ridged solution.

Thanks guys, running the wires in wall for me is no problem ,that used to be my job as an alarm installer. My main concern was that the 37 was to small and look some what like a postage stamp. All you guys have bigger sets and yes it would be hung if it was a 42 or bigger.Just not sure on how it would look.I guess I could make a template of my set tack it up see if it fits or not.I also rent and as long as you don't reconfigure the house I hang all sorts of things. Unless they are real di-ks I'm not fretting over this one. They did make me pull my own a.c. unit out of a window and that was in the lease.

Timalan ,you must have mirrors ,posters, art all hanging w/ holes going to be there. If you have no intention on moving I wouldn't
worry to much about it unless they inspect which in most states they can not do.

I'm sorry, but on an 18' wall, a 37" would be like a postage stamp unless you are sitting within 5' of the screen. With the costs of TVs dropping so fast, I'd say hold out, save a little, get something like a 55 or 60 (50 minimum) and do it right. My co-worker recently bought a decent 60" LG for $699, so we are not talking a fortune. I see ads for 55 for around 500. Wall mount brackets are cheap these days, go to monoprice and it should be less than $50.

One thing I've learned, you never regret getting at TV that's TOO BIG, its always the other way around.

BTW, it looks like you stole my 1st set of speakers (the Infinity SM's)
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

billbiiw,I think I have to agree w/ you on this one .Even though were not talking a full empty 18' wall it's and easy 9-10' feet and my couch is also about 12' centered away from it. As far as the Infinitys SM112s are concerned I'm putting them up on C/L and now my
Time Frame 350s employ that spot. That was an old picture and the set up has changed a bit since then.

You can get a simple wall bracket from amazon for 20 bucks, I have one and it works well. Does your Adcom amp have any heat issues sitting on the bottom of the pile of gear?

Was thinking the same thing. Not only that, but you'd think sitting on the floor would make static electricity build up an issue eventually.

I have been asked many times about my former stack. The amp even when pushed all day which sometimes I used to do when all
my neighbors were gone did not even get warm by the fins or the sides. The biggest heat producer of all my gear is my cable box and that is not in the stack at all. I also have gone to a rack so the amp is off the floor and is away from other devices by inches. I
once opened the top and there is so much room in there that air flow and layout make for great bedfellows . I think if heat was big issue they would of vented the tops like they now do for all avrs.It was on a black painted 3/4'' board of ply so it was
    never on the floor.

My bad sorry, perhaps the other gear and plywood acted as a heat sink?

If sincere ok but if your being sarcastic I invite you when your in central Jersey to bring a digital thermometer and then we'll see.
After talking w/ Adcom 1. they said it can take the weight of my gear as explained to them and 2. heat dispersion is one of those things they are actually proud of. I have never w/ the thing running loud all day get even warm. Do to the amount of fins in back and just the space inside.Again the rack has changed do not go by that picture, it is now rack mounted w/ devices spaced away
    accordingly.

    Left,
Another option you may want to consider is the Bello PP-59 Flat Panel tv mounting system. It satisfied my form, function and looks requirements at a very reasonable cost.
