Tweeter Network -
Clarity Cap ESA
Mundorf Mox

Midbass Network -
Clarity Cap PX and Solen PB400V

Upgraded binding post, NL2 connections

This will also be to accommodate the RDO198 - it looks like it has been done with this model and the owner wants to make it happen! :)

What's being done with the bottom tweeter and circuit? What's being done to compensate for the overall balance being thrown out of whack?

All I will comment is the resistor needed to run 194 has been ordered and the customer is ordering 198 tweeters with the understanding if it does not sound right we can change it over pretty easy...

How can it sound right when the MW6509 drivers are so different than the MW6503, MW6510 and MW6511 used in the models that are or can be TL'd?

The SRS 2 blade/blade is a 4 ohm nominal speaker, all the TL speakers are at least 6 ohm.

The MW6509 has a resistance of 8.970 ohms, the Fs is 30Hz.
The MW6503 has a resistance of 6.540 ohms, the Fs is 29Hz.
The MW6510 has a resistance of 6.570 ohms, the Fs is 31Hz.
The MW6511 has a resistance of 3.130 ohms, the Fs is 29Hz.

I'm not a speaker designer, but I know enough to know that there has to be a balance between the highs and the lows. I don't see how that is possible with the given info.

    I understand all of this...

the only reason we are trying it is because I found a couple quotes from Matt Polk saying it should work as well as Ken. I also found a couple members who have performed the mod with success

I think I am going to do this like the Legacy Empire crossover -

The left side of the crossover will be built in layers to save room and unclutter everything and the back end of the crossover will house the larger components...

All of the wiring will be completed beneath the board for a clean look.

I am excited to see the results!

Yes, I have read Matt's comments too. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Yeah.....ummmm......questionable at best, IMO. You can't just change the top tweeter and circuit and do nothing with the bottom one.

Padauk has a natural oil to it - just polished it out - looking good!

Plexiglass cut and ready for some general layout ideas!

Not to rain on your fine wood but did you know that Padauk will loose it's color over time and go to kind of a bleached out look. I have quit using it. At least that's my experience with it, best of luck. Oh, I still owe you some coins for my parts, will pp sap.

I could see that happen if it was exposed...

This piece of wood will see the light of day for the next... 2 weeks and then it will be forever housed away inside of a loudspeaker! :-P.

This is a blade blade SDA SRS 2

We are attempting a controversial RDO198 modification! :-P

But we are also including parts to convert them to 194 tweeters in case it is not 100%!

    Thanks! :)
