Proper break-in for speakers?

My LSi25s are due to arrive today and I know these speakers need 75-100hrs break-in time. So what volume level is best and should it be continuous or is 5-8hrs a day good?

Just listen as you normally would.

Agreed. It takes a few hours for them to get good and broke in but just listen like normal. Goes without saying use a little common sense and don't go cranking it up to 11 and all that.

I'm using a Crown CE2000 which is way more than they need but I will never set the amp level above 25%. I've used this amp for years and very happy with it. I am currently looking for a tube amp now that I got these speakers though.

Got them all unpacked and positioned but not ran a wire to them yet, still getting it setup. They are beautiful speakers!

So far so good here, they sound awesome so can't wait till they break-in fully! Got about 20hrs in since Tuesday.

What are some of the sound characteristics that change over the break-in period? Better blending, bigger sound stage, crisper highs, or ???

Best to listen for changes yourself. You don't want to get some preconcieved idea then be disappointed when it doesn't happen.

Hello, KellyMic and welcome to Club Polk. Break in for speakers is real but for some it's not. I wouldn't dwell on it too much. As to what to expect, that depends on so many factors that by the time you are done reading on both sides of the fence, they will most likely be broken in already. If I were you [and I'm not], I would just let them sing and sit back to enjoy the music. At some undetermined point, they will be broken in or your ears will just be adjusted to the speaker. Perhaps both. For now, I would advise to just enjoy your purchase and what it brings to your ears at whatever level you prefer.

I'm a firm believer in it. before the review process begins I listen to the speakers just out of the box while making notes about their sound. Then, over the following several nights I have them play thru the night or when nobody is home (my listening room is across the house and can be sealed off noise-wise). In this way my ears are not "conditioned" to the speakers soundprint and it is much easier to spot the change from break-in.
