I'd like to say thanks to Trey (VR3) who very generously helped me this week--While placing parts on my Gimpod board for my 2BTL recap one of the leads of a 0.40mH inductor snapped off right at the bobbin where I couldn't do anything to salvage it.

I PM'd VR3 for some advice in shopping for a replacement, and he recalled that he had the exact coil I'd just ruined in a drawer; he sent it out to me gratis. Two minutes with my Weller and my crossover is finished!

So thanks a bunch, Trey for going above & beyond to help out a Polkie in need.

FYI, you could have simply unwound the wire a turn to get enough lead to solder it after scraping away a bit of the varnish. So, don't throw that inductor away.

That was Trey's thought too--IMO it wouldn't have been possible: The lead was the inner one, which exits through the plastic of the bobbin/spool via a hole near the center of the spool. It broke off flush with the plastic, so I'd have had to unwind the entire thing in order to access the end of the thing. I'll post a picture when I do a thread in the mods section shortly and you can see if you guys agree with my diagnosis.

Ah, you've got one of those. You're right, it's pretty much toast.

    Bump for the day/evening crowd.

I'm excited to have the end of this project in sight, I've been dragging my feet since summer. Bought the full complement of Sonicaps and Mills on the board here from someone who abandoned his 4.1TL project about two days after the 2B's fell into my lap & wanted to listen to them stock for a while for a baseline. Then...life got in the way as it tends to do.
