saw the HDCD led light for the first time tonight!

Very surprized! Found a Bob James HDCD ( Playing Hooky") in my local used cd store "Bananas records" played it though the GDA 700 DAC and saw the light! The HDCD light that is. Very nice dynamics and imagings. Great detail in each insterment and seporation between insterments was surprizing.real close to SACD id say (with the advantage of the modded adcom DAC. The SACD'S i got the other day juat edged them out but considering the price renge differe 3.98 vs 75.00 i will be searching the racks for mpre HDCD'S for sure.

    Oh, I'm just joshing you. I have a Panasonic player that can do HDCD and I have "yet" to see that light go on. lol

    What i like is i get to use my GDA 700 DAC ( heavely modded) with the HDCD'S where on the sacd's i dont. So i feel the DAC adds evem more to the hdcd's than just using a hdcd capable cdp. It really pushes the sacd hard in a head to head compairison.

    Sorry rick country just aint my thing makes me want to shoot myself. Kinda like RAP but RAP makes me want to shoot someone else.LOL nothing personal. Im a jazz man primarily ( not everyones cup of tea either) but will listen to almost anything if mastered well except....... Well what u said. LOL.

    You'll see HDCD encoded cd's with quite a few country music albums.

    Thanks for bringing this up, OP! I've been meaning for a long time to figure out how to rip some of my HDCDs to 24-bit (to keep the 20-bit encoding). Your post reminded me to research the subject again and I got it done today using CUETools!

    I've always hated the sound of Tom Petty's Playback box set via Redbook. It sounds much better with the HDCD encoding intact!
