Re-cone or replace?
I'm looking at getting a couple speakers fixed with blown woofers. Curious what user feedback is on just having them re-coned instead.

Also, "blown" can sometimes mean a bad voicecoil...and no amount of re-coning will fix a cooked voicecoil.
If the cones are just bad/falling apart, but the spider and everything else look goo, they may be salvageable...just need more information.
What is the speaker doing? Physical damage? Does the woofer make a scratching noise when playing at modest volume?"Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

The speakers are Boston Acoustics VR-970. These both have a 10" and 12" side firing woofers. The 12" rattles terribly in both. Upon inspection they were visibly separated on the outer ring. I glued them back up and they sounded great for like a week but they then came apart in another section. They are needing to be replaced properly. I've seen re-coning is from $40-$60 each and that doesn't include shipping back and forth. At that point I'm getting close to $150 to $175. Curious if it's better to just put in new ones at that point.---

Only you can decide if it is worth the money or not. The current value may help with that decision.Political Correctness'.........defined
