PSW 200 This is making me feel dumb

My son bought his first powered sub tonight...all excited to get it running. I cannot get the thing to work...so thinking maybe I am just losing my touch..
I have looked for the owners manual online, and it appears that every owners manual EXCEPT the PSW 200 is on the Polk site...does anybody have a copy of one or no where I can get one.
I looked at other model manuals and none of them have the same configuration as the PSW 200.
What I did for the hook up was...
connected receiver L and R to the subs L and R INPUT...then ran L and R outputs to the front L and R channel speakers...not even trying center channel or anything fancy...just trying to determine if the thing works or not...
I guess my tech question is...do I have to use the Input and Output RCA's at all? The thing that is throwing me is that there is NOT a "line in" RCA spot....sorry if I have just made it more confusing...so back to my original request...Manual anybody?
Thanks!!

Looking at the back panel image of the PSW200:

Just to confirm--you have connected speaker wire from the receiver to the R and L speaker level input, and then speaker wire from the R and L speaker level output to the speakers? Also check, if the receiver needs its settings changed: Front set to Large, Subwoofer set to No.
Then that connection method should work, then just adjust the subwoofer volume control dial, variable low pass filter, and variable phase control dial as needed. Front speakers will likely always be full range with that connection method.
If you want better bass management, then in theory--just looking at the back panel--it should be possible to leave the speakers connected to the receiver, and then run a subwoofer cable from the receiver into the L/Mono line level input. Stereo sub output from the receiver? Then use both the R and L/Mono line level inputs. Without a manual, I can only guess that the line level outputs are some sort of pass-through from the line level inputs to the speakers (that would connect with RCA connectors). -
Thank you very much for the response...
Your confirmation of the wired hookup is correct. Your suggestion about the receiver setting is warranted as well...whole different problem (sorry...challenge).
The receiver is a Yamaha RX-v630 and we do not have the remote for it...and I have not been able to figure out how to get to the setting that would allow me to "add a subwoofer". I used to own a yamaha receiver and I seem to remember some of the functions only being accessible via-remote, any suggestions on that one?.....ok back to the subwoofer...
I thought the same as it relates to the RCA's...but does not seem to work either...I think I have a faulty sub...even though the light comes on..I have now tested it with 2 other receivers...both the wired version and the L/Mono version and nothing...
My son found it on Craigs List so I am crossing my fingers that they guy that sold it to him will have a heart and give him his money back. Thanks for your input...and you must have a better search engine than me, because I could not even locate the image you found. I did find it odd that with all the manuals out there...the PSW200 seems to have been left out....
Thanks again, have a great New Years! -
Hello tkmesa,
The definitive method of testing the sub would be to feed it an audio signal directly from a DVD/CD player. To do this you would turn the sub's volume all the way down and connect an RCA cable from the right and left of the player to the right and left of the sub. Then start playing a CD and slowly turn the sub's volume up. There should be plenty of bass at a reasonable volume setting.
