PSW110 Important Safety Instructions

Hello,
I tried searching the internet and this forum for an answer to my question(s) but yielded no results. In the manual for the PSW110 under "Important Safety Instructions" it reads "8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat." My question is, why is this a bad thing? Also, how near are we talking about?
I understand that extreme heat can often cause faulty products, so I am assuming in short that the answer lies somewhere along that line. Currently I have my PSW110 in the corner of the room approx. 3" from the wall on the left side, and approx. 4" from the wall on the back side. A little off to the right side of the sub there is a heat register (located in the wall) that I currently have closed. Can I safely open said heat register without risking damage to the sub?

All electronics manuals have this in their safety warnings. I wouldn't worry about opening the register as long as it's not blowing directly on the speaker. Others may disagree. If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Providin that an intense amount of heat isn't coming out of the register, it shouldn'tbe an issue. they sell clear plastic diverters at hardware stores that can divert the air. Fairly inexpesive fix, easy to install, works well, but a bit ugly.

Thanks for the info/tips guys.

A heat register in the wall ? Never heard of such an animal. You sure it's not a cold air return ? Heat registers I've seen in the floor, baseboards, ceilings, but never in a wall. Must be something specific to your area.HT SYSTEM-

See registers all the time on walls, but usually high on the wall. No telling what builder/designer/friends-brothers-cousin did in any building. As in any vocation; "There are people who have no bussiness in that line of work".

to me, along the wall, near the floor is the most likely place to see a forced hot air grill or a modern hot water/steam radiator or a electric heating element radiator.
