I am running my SDAs now off a Adcom GFA 555 and Even though I mostly jam to Classic rock and jazz. I discovered this young dude who calls himself Skrillex. Kinda techno house type of music. I was just wondering if this bass dropping music will hurt my speaker drivers? As always ,thanks. Darryl

Skrillex shouldn't hurt your speakers with good amp... Justin Bieber will.

Skrillex is proof how frightening the SRS speakers are with bass.

"Type" of music makes no difference.

Driving the speakers beyond their volume limitations will.

Some types of music are detrimental to your ear/brain/personality, though. Just think about how the martians reacted to Slim Whitman in Mars Attacks!

The only 2 things that will hurt a speaker aside from jamming a screwdriver thru the cone is building up more heat in the voice coil than it can dissipate and pushing the suspension beyond its limits. If youre using a very powerful amp and these bass notes are pushing the drivers to their suspension limits, it is possible that you can pop them. But a little common sense will make sure this doesnt happen. If you hear your drivers bottoming out then back it down and youll be fine.

Only two things will harm a Polk Speaker.

    Rap "music" and cats.

The "Rap" is more harmful to your psyche than to the speakers.
