in-walls high up wall??
We are remodeling our home and would like to install in-wall speakers for mainly background listening and maybe cranked up during parties (not an audiophile, but still needs to sound okay!), however due to the windows on our wall we are unable to place speakers at ear level (standing or sitting). Ceiling speakers are not an option. Basically we would need to place the speakers between 8-10ft, above 10ft the cathedral ceiling starts with a height of 15ft. While it's basically one large open space I am thinking about creating 3 zones being kitchen, dining, and living each with two speakers (stereo). The kitchen and dining are basically the top of the "T" 35' wide by 15' depth (lower part of T is the living). The living 20' by 25' will have it's speakers on the same side as the dining. Budget for speakers is in the $1500-$2000 range and I have been looking at Polk the 265's (LS and RT) look interesting for living (simpler pairs for kitchen/dining), however not sure if they have a pivoting tweeter...which I am hoping might help with the having to mount them higher up the wall. The speakers will also have to be mounted horizontally as there is not enough space vertically. Any suggestions or other product ideas?
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

I have RC65i in wall speakers installed at just under my 10ft ceiling, I tilted the tweeter so it is looking down and in the middle of the sound area. Like how it sounds and how it looks, I don't think wall speakers should be in ear level. BTW with the cathedral ceiling place those speakers at the same level starting at the lower side. IMHO.
BTW whatever works for the room to install speakers is ok, so if you need to put them in horizontally vs. vertically is ok. I would prefer them as vertical but I too had to put them in horizontal. Couldn't rebuild the whole house to put them the other way.

Thanks Disneyjoe7!
Anyone else doing this, maybe some 265-LS or RT owners? Unsure from the specs if the 265-LS has pivot/swivel tweeters...really like the specs for my living just not sure if they would work without the swivel, otherwise I might do the RT's.

So what are you going to power these speakers with? 265-LS are serious speakers, read very nice... but I'm sure they like power.

Still researching that part Basically hoping to put a little oomph in the living, however maybe the 265-RT or the RC series will suffice. You mentioned having the RC65i's, how are they doing at higher volume - and what size room are you using them in?

They in my master bedroom which is about 22x14', driving by a niles speaker volume control and an older 100w onkyo avr in 2 channel mode. Sound is pleasing but my master sound is my family room. Could they be rock out impressing... not sure for me, but may need to add a 200w amp to start. I'm sure the 100w onk is only giving me 35w or so. I set the niles speaker volumes at 4x since I plan to have 4 sets of wall speakers, right now the back porch and my master bedroom. Next the master bathroom and the bonus room off the family room. The volume controls are auto muting like these but with IR sensors also not made any longer http://outlet.crutchfield.com/p_190MVC1HRN/Niles-MVC100R-Bone.html?cc=07
