Subwoofer Amplifier for PSW1000

I need a subwoofer amplifier to power my PSW1000 sub.

PSW1000 SPECIFICATIONS
DRIVER COMPLEMENT:
2 - 10" (25cm) woofers
AMPLIFIER POWER:
400 Watts

Originally this subwoofer was powered by a BASH, but I'll take whatever you have lying around that will power this baby. Internal amp or external amp does not matter to me.

If you don't have one, BUT can recommend one let me know...Anyone see one for sale on another site for cheap?

A Dayton Audio SPA 500 will most closely match the stock amps performance. It's also an easy install, all you have to do is enlarge the hole a quarter of an inch all the way around and it'll fit right in.

Dayton also has an external subwoofer amplifier. You can look at Parts Express for it. I have a dead Polk PSW650 as well. The Polk subwoofer amps seem to die pretty often once the warranty expires. I really hated to get rid of my PSW650.

Right now, I am trying to build a new cabinet in the same dimensions and specs to fit a new amp. The problem is that the original cutout was only 8"x10" and the new Dayton 250-watt amp is 10" square. There is not enough clearance to fit the new amp into the old cabinet because the power port vents are too large. My idea is to move the dual power ports to the bottom of the cabinet to accommodate the new amp.

look at a bash 300 or 500 at parts express or ebay has them for $140-240
also parts ex has a scratch N dent section

the problem with using a BASH300 is that it has a subsonic filter set to 17hz which is way too low for the PSW1000 so it creates alot of port turbulance/voice coil rattle. You can change the filter setting for a few dollars if you don't mind changing two resistors on the amp board (although this voids the amp warranty). You also have to make a wood template to cover the stock hole since the BASH is rectangular and the stock amp is square. I have sold a bunch of PSW1000 with BASH500 (it has a 29hz subsonic filter), but i also change the porting from mid 40hz to 31hz for it to work correctly and not have to change resistors on the amp.

I know this is a zombie thread but you seem like the guy to ask about this.

I’ve been looking for a psw1000 stock with no luck. I found one somewhat close by that has already had the amp changed. But it’s a b.k. Electronics.

The seller claims it’s supposed to be a 600 watt model amp. I haven’t been able to track down this specific amp since it has no identifying numbers or model. I have contacted bk to double check but no response yet. Just curious if you might be familiar with this amp and know if this is a good option. On the flip side, do you have any of the old broken amps from your stockpile of psw1000’s?

I do not have any of the old amps, I wound up using the Dayton Audio SA1000 external amplifier and that's all you really need. You would have to run the woofer wires to an external post just like chris mentioned above...I'm not familiar with that amplifier used on the subwoofer you are considering purchasing, hopefully the price is good for the subwoofer and it is not expensive, these subs could be had for cheap at one time.... Any reason why you must have a psw1000? There are other subwoofers out there...depends on your budget though....
