Newbie here - blades or pins cable

I just picked up a pair of SDA 1 (serials R -3926 / L - 3922). I did some reading on the interconnect cable and saw some blade and some pin. Mine look like two slots ( really "L" ) that face each other. Is this the blade socket? Or does the little notch in the end of the slot fit a pin? Just need to know, so I can proceed to the next step of buying or building a cable (whole other can of worms).

Nice to see you over from AK
That is the blade/blade interconnect. Nice vintage speakers, the real deal SDA's...don't see them very often.
Email kswauger@polkaudio.com , I recall them still being available for purchase.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Hi Dorokusai - small world. From your posts, I see you've been busy here and just starting over at Audiokarma.org. Thanks for the input, I've sent an email and will see what he says. Even without the cord, these things are very detailed, with a wide soundstage and some pretty incredible bass.

The AK website is a 180 degrees from this one, simply due to content. I don't have alot to add as far as vintage gear goes, but I like to read I really like all the nice pics of gear over there.
Wait until you get the interconnect hooked up, and hear the huge soundstage that they are known for producing. Some like it, some don't...I was pretty impressed to say the least. Have fun and keep us updated.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Thanks Ken for your help. Just got off the phone with Lauren and the twin blade cable is on it's way. " We that are about to rock - salute you"

Make sure you use a common ground amp, and steer clear of monoblocks also....
Cheers,

Ward - Oh you meant SDA SRS 1's....I thought you meant the crazy old SDA1's. They look very familiar now,
I have the SDA1C which looks similar.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Sorry real newbie here - I don't know the difference. I was going by the serial number on the back that says L SDA 1 3922 ( I read this as L for Left, SDA 1 for model and 3922 as the serial number)
I thought the SRS has the mid/bass driver up higher on either side of the tweeters? -
Yea you have the SDA1B....man I am thinking turkey not speakers tonight....
The drivers higher on one side isn't really an SRS feature, just a design feature of the 2.3(TL) and 3.1(TL).
The SDA1 whether its a 1A, 1B, 1C will just say SDA 1.

Thanks for the input, I'm soaking this stuff up like a sponge. So, how can you tell these are B's? Or better yet, what makes them B's?

The main obvious things are the cabinets...and tweeter arrangements. Here is some basic information:
SDA1 - Crazy raised bezel design, horizontal tweeters, external tweeter protection fuse, cabinet traditional with raised bottom and wood grained sides
SDA1A - NO raised bezel, horizontal tweeters, NO external tweeter protection fuse, cabinet is same as above
SDA1B - NO raised bezel, vertical tweeters, no external tweeter protection fuse, cabinet is raised on the bottom
SDA1C - NO raised bezel, vertical tweeters, no external tweeter protection fuse, flush cabinet design, fabric side panels, top and bottom end caps(Studio version had no endcaps)
There are driver differences between them, but thats some simple information.
You should contact Raife, about getting a copy of the SDA Compendium. It is a full blown collection of information on the SDA...every model, pictures, specifications, etc. It was like $25, and I find it invaluable for searching for parts, and crossreferencing models and the like. Ask if he can make a color edition for you, its much better in color. Let me know, and I will email you his address, in case he prefers it not to be posted.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers?
