Just wanted to drop a little note saying hi to everyone.

I just ordered me a pair of TSi 400's, CS10, and they through in a PSW111. I am going to be pairing it with the H/K AVR1700 I got at Best Buy a couple days ago (from what I've seen I guess I got a pretty good deal for $199 amazon had it for $409).

I am new to the HT set up and am looking forward to doing a lot of research and get a little more knowledge in this area. I am also fairly new to forums I am part of a car Forum which has been very helpful and I am hoping this will do the same. Hopefully I don't get flammed for creating a new post. I didn't see an intro section like my other forum has.

Once everything comes in and I get it all set up I'll snap a picture and post it up if anyone cares

Any set up tips IE gauge for speaker wires, banana clips vs spades vs just direct plug I am more than open to the help since I am a complete NOOB at this.

Welcome to the forum, Polk, and the hobby. As far as wire, eh, 14 awg is fine. Regarding connections, IF you have a soldering iron, and know how to use it, I'd tin the ends, and just make sure the anchor nut is tight. If not, don't sweat it.
As for posting pics, we have a 'system showcase' where you can share your pride and joy.

Thanks when I was first shopping I looked at the 300s but after hearing both I decided to put up the extra 40 each and get the 400s :) and really I was only going to start with 2.0 but amazon had a deal to get the free psw111 if I spent a little more so I just threw in the cs10 haha

    Welcome.

Now that you have been bitten this hobby wont let you go.

I work at BB the 1700 is a decent AVR and when its $199 its a steal. We have a demo area and its running a 1700 tsi400, cs10, tsi100, and a psw10. It powers them nicely.

Cables - once you get into this hobby, you'll realize there's more to cables than just the gauge.

Terminations - somewhat dependant on the gear. For speaker cables I like banana plugs. For RCA's I like the locking type.

Yea now I have to split my hobby money between my car (GTI) and this hahaha

Yea I picked up the H/K because it was $199. I'm on a budget and I saw it so I grabbed it figuring that I can read reviews on the interwebz and try it out and if I don't like it I can return it and pony up a little more. But then again since I'm a noob at all this I might not even tell the difference! I'm glad that you have heard all the stuff I am going to run through it and it powers "nicely" as you say. That is a relief. I tried to get the guys here at my local BB to power the TSI400 with the receiver I bought but the idiots there couldnt figure it out so I just had them pair it to the Yamaha 500 Watt they had in the Demo room.

I am literally checking the tracking every 30 min. My TSI400s were put on the truck at 3:01AM to be delivered so I should have them when I get home! Unfortunately the CS10 and PSW111 won't be in until 1/14

THANKS! Those are getting hooked up the minute I get home, if they are there... Countdown time 4 more hours! I'm just anxiously waiting for a text/call from the wife..."Your stupid, expensive speakers came in. The ones that don't come with any wires."

Yea she was pretty baffled that I would pay so much for speakers that don't come with all the necessary things to hook it up hahaha. Typical woman! She won't be complaining when she uses the set up when she is making up choreography for her Zumba class!

Welcome to cp, looks like you have built yourself a great system and I am sure your just gona love it. When I got my first system setup I could not believe what I was hearing. Give them speakers time to break in and soften up and be sure to post back and get help with placement help to maximize the listening experience as its super important how your gear will interact with the room

Later down the line its a good idea to get a nice big projector setup to match the big sound but first wait until the smoke coming from your wallet die's down  Once you start posting on here your going to burn the wallet many more time. You will even get to the point where you will start lusting over cable configurations that's the price of a brand new car

Welcome to the Polk party, and congrats on a nice setup there! I'd highly recommend checking out the "Polk University" link at the very top of these forums. I especially enjoy the advice articles and FAQ's in regards to getting a home theater setup started.

And there's a tremendous wealth of knowledge among the members here, so you're in good hands in regards to ongoing advice. In the end, you get to decide what's important to you. I listen to music at work more than home, so I've chosen to focus my primary system on home theater. There are many folks here that are 2 channel only, and certainly folks with both (and in many iterations.)

And Polk customer service is absolutely top notch, so there's one less thing to worry about as well.

    Happy listening!

To my surprise ALL MY GEAR came in Friday. I started set up at 12:30 once the wife and kid were sleeping and finished around 3. Yea I know it took me a while I'm all new to this. I was too excited and I didn't want to wait until I picked up some banana plugs so I just did it the old school way. SO I biwired my TSi400s with some 16 gauge and also used that 16 for the CS10. I haven't hooked up the sub because I didn't make it out to pick a cable up. I will be making a trip sometime this week to get the cable and some banana plugs. Once I powered it on and gave it a little taste man how hjappy I was! Wife not so mcuh since I ended up waking her up when I was playing some Call of Duty.

All in all I couldnt be happier. It seems like every day I've listened to them they are sounding better and better. I guess because they are still "breaking in"
