    I have a problem.

Basically, my cheapie blurays have just digital audio outs, and my adcom pre only accepts analog in.

The real problem is i really just cant see spending 3-400 bucks for an oppo br player right now.

    oh well

I don't know. I have never heard any of the newer Denon's. On thing you have to watch out for with the later Denons is that they do not support SACD.

I have had a Denon DVD-2900 for years, still in use and a good solid unit. I had a DVD-5910 ($3800.00 new in 2005) for a while, but replaced it recently with an Oppo BDP-103 which cost just $499.00 and is eons better IMO for SACD and DVD-Audio playback.
SDA SRS 3.1TL, Adcom GFP710 (preamp), GFA5400 amplifier, Pro-Ject TT
    SDA SRS (circa 1988), Integra DHC 60.3 (HT preamp) Adcom GFA555 II, CS400i (center), Monitor 4.6 II (rears) Adcom GFA2535 & Oppo BDP-103, TCL 55R617 55" 4K Display, RTA 15TL (crossovers by VR3), Adcom GFP710 pre & GFA545 II amplifier, NAD C545BEE. AppleTV 4K
Other Polks not in service currently; SDA2a, SDA CRS+, SDA SRS 2.3, Monitor 4.6 II, Monitor 5jr+

Also, I have played sacds and bluray audio discs on our adcom gcd700, although i know adcom has never made sacd players, so is it just playing these discs as regular cds.

Im tempted to keep an eye out for something along the lines of the denon 2910.

I concur with the above regarding SACD playback capabilities, they are also not built as solid or in the same way as the older units.

I just got an Oppo BDP-95 and I can say that it is better than the 2910, but not by a whole lot. I could easily live with just the 2910. The only drawback of the 2910 is that it won't support blu-ray.

I sympathize with your situation on the lower cost BR players, but if you can swing it the Oppo does offer an incredible amount of features for the money, and the other thing going for them IMO is that all they build are the two models of BR players, which says something about thier focus on the technology.

Find a Marantz SA-8001. You will not regret it. Superb SACD and red book playback.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

All my redbooks will go thru my gda700DAC dont want or need dvd or blueray as this is for my "main rig" music only.it will need spidf outs as well as analog outs for the sacd section.and may upgrade the ic (opamps) with national ti's anyway for the internal DAC. Just want a good sacd section. Does rega make a sacd or anyone comproable?

I have a denon 1940ci and it is sacd but i have never been overly impressed with it for music. Have always used it for movies in my HT system. Just moved it into my main rig to play the sacd's i just got and believe i can do much better.
