Just for what it is worth...

When I quote modifications for SDA it involves the following -

Tweeter Network - Clarity Cap ESA, Mundorf Mox
    Woofer/SDA - Clarity Cap SA/PX
    GIMPOD boards
    Upgraded NL2 connection, NL2 15 FT RONDO 13 awg x 2 SDA connection
    Upgraded binding post

Just the binding post, NL2, 15 ft RONDO cable is $120.00

    GIMPOD $100.00

    $300??

Maybe if you are stacking parts like a mountain on a stock board and not touching the terminal cup

Here is what I have told Naturallight before -

Total - $592.60 (This includes ALL of the above modifications - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Total - $512.60 (Without Upgraded Binding Post/SDA Wire, but includes GIMPOD boards) - Second Recommended Option

Total - $492.60 (Without GIMPOD boards)

Total - $415.00 (Without GIMPOD boards or Upraded Binding Post/SDA Wire - mind you cant even buy a roll of solder, a soldering iron, a glue gun or hot glue + parts for that

I would not say I am "defending" anything - I just wanted to clear up I do not over charge anything.

The last bit about soldering irons and so forth was not in the quote, FWIW. Just here.

When I started doing this my goal was to perform modifications at a price everyone could afford, kind of the Polk motto.

So far it has worked! :)

    Thanks!

Sometimes F1..i just give up on your statements. When Vr3 tells me...it's going to cost more them $300 bucks for both speakers..i tend to believe him.

I simply asked where you came up with a $1000.00 for tweeters and crossover mods because it seemed pretty high unless you were using Dueland or Clarity MR's. Knowing what Trey uses I still don't see the $1000.00 price tag.
your blunt statement that Sonus Farber speakers are better then Legacy speakers...what is your basic fact for this??? You don't have either of these speakers, so why do you think one is better then the other.

I just don't get some of your statements................

I've listened to a lot of Sonus Faber's line from entry to TOTL and some of Legacy's line including the Focus. Both brands have a house sound with SF being more refined and musical, which I fine sonically pleasing and realistic. Legacy tends to be more in your face, which I do not find pleasing or realistic. YMMV.

That's a bit more than just tweeters and crossover mods for $1000.00 as stated by the OP.

Yes, $300.00 in parts for what I stated previously and yes, stacked on the stock boards like it's been done until Tony offered his custom boards, which you still stack caps on. Never said anything about the binding post plate or parts.

I would not say I am "defending" anything - I just wanted to clear up I do not over charge anything.

No one, as far as I know, is accusing you of overcharging. The OP made a comment about the cost that I found out of line, therefore I wanted to know where he came up with it. It seems that he didn't quote your price correctly nor did he seem to know what it entailed.

Yes, confusion because the OP did not present all the information accurately even when asked. We'll chalk it up to the dental issues and move on.

    Still in the effing shop....:frown:

While we're talking about mods and money......I've said this to Trey's face and I don't mind saying it here. He doesn't charge anywhere near enough in labor for what he does. I wouldn't touch a crossover for what he charges.

I have done it twice so far and have another set coming up, and I could not agree more with that statment!
Doing my speakers for me, is one story, doing it for customers is WAY different.
I have bragged on Trey before, you start showing pics, it becomes different all the sudden.
Alot of modders don't want to show pics, and Trey will show anything and everything with pics.
    Beautimus Trey!
I have zoomed in and it is sweet to say the least.

I don't think any of the Pioneer Blu-Ray players use the Stable Platter as it was discontinued a number of years back. It's basically the concept of a turn table platter incorperated into a CD player. It's supposed to help with minimizing laser reading errors, and therefore reducing jitter. The concept seems sound and I like the sound I get from using a transport with the Stable Platter.

I think my Rotel 1093 is proprietary, not sure, but I like it, but know alot of them use the Phillips platter.
I actually have a Phillips 825 that is pretty clean sounding for its age.

OK, I can say for sure my Blu-ray doesn't have that feature. I opened mine up because I open every piece of gear that rolls thru here and found the transport is sealed inside a metal casing, nice touch. Of course, I applied Dynamat anyway.

Not sure which player it is. I just pulled an example off the internet. My transport that uses the Stable Platter is the Theta Jade. An interesting usage note of the Stable Platter is that you inster the CD/SACD, etc upside down.

Jesse: Did Denon or Pioneer start the metal cage feature first? My Denon DVD-5910 uses the metal cage as well.

I had one just like that a few years back, but I am thinking it was the pds 93.
They are "stable" no doubt and probably do benefit from "less jitter".
Now a days naturally that is done through pcb's.

Would be the upmostest (is that a word?, OK maybe I made that up, so what?) transport IMHO!
