Finding Nemo - Blown Speakers?

I've heard some reports that scene 25 (the whale scene) has blown fronts on several systems (not specific to Polk) - Has anyone else heard this, or unfortunately experienced it firsthand?
I had my volume button ready and turned it down - it's quite a loud low-high range! BTW - That tank glass tapping scene from Darla is great!!!!!!!

I have not heard that. I have seen cheap speakers blow up at an electonics store in the 80's. Someone was demonstrating some sansui system with the 1812 overture from Telarc and the digital cannons blew the 12" woofer to shreads. It was something I can remember since a few days later I heard about polk audio and then got a demo from the dealer and Mat himself while on a cross country tour. A few weeks later I bought my pair of SRS's and have been a polk fan ever since.
Thanks for the heads up. When my wife is out with the kids, I will pump up the volume and listen to those effects. I am sure our polks will be fine. -
Many of the "smaller" speakers set to large WILL blow - especially on a badly calibrated systems. Has nothing to do with a "scene" or "specific speakers" - has to do with system calibration.

I have used my Polk with SUB OFF and set on large and they came out a winner.
I watched U-571, Star Wars EP1&2,FINAL FANTASY, THIN RED LINE, PEARL HARBOR and LOTR-FOTR with volume set to 12'o clock position. The amp couple of times in STARS WARS EP1&EP2 clipped but nothing happened to the speakers.

No problem here. Not quite reference level with the kiddo's watching, but speakers handled seamlessly.

I just watched it this weekend. Had it pretty loud (-20). I have my system set up the polk way so the mains are set to large. No problems. Of course Polk saw fit to design the 6700's with a 150Hz x-over so anything lower than that goes to the sub.
The whale scenes and the Darla scene were cool! Overall a very fun movie.Denon AVR-1803

I thought my Polk PSW505 was going to blow apart on the Darla tap scene. I practically flew across the room and quickly turned it down, it was the first time the speaker showed any "weakness", but it is okay now.
So how could this rock-solid sub quiver in the face of a Disney cartoon? I blame myself for not having it properly calibrated. I had the Onkyo set to +3 for bass, which is complete overkill (i like bass). This has been just fine for every other movie I've watched so I was really caught off guard by the taps.
Anyway, I've got two 505's stacked now, instead of pushing the hell out of one. Hopefully soon I will start a thread with db comparisons between 1 or 2 subs. However, the bass police (aka live-in girlfriend) does not make this an easy task.
Regards and be careful,
