Hanging RTi4/6?
Looking to hang some RTi6's as surround backs and RTi4's as front height's. my ceiling is unfinished so I'm thinking of putting in a plank of wood at an angle with a bolt running through it for the eyelet of the speaker. Then I can tighten the nut on the back side to tighten it and keep it up. Thoughts/other ideas? Any reason this might not work well?

I've got a pair of RTi 6s hangin' on the wall. Figured they put that eyelet in there for a reason.

I hung my Rti4's with Omnimount, 20lb mounts. It gets them off the wall a few inches and provides some flexibility with positioning after the mount.Polk Fronts: RTi A7's

Several ways you can 'hang' the RTi speakers:
1) use the powerport keyhole on the back and just hang them on the wall - they were designed to be able to hang the speaker. But it does put the powerport close to the wall which may not result in best bass, and you can't angle the speaker into the room.
2) use a mounting bracket such as the AM-40 that clamps the speaker from the side and allows you to both swivel and tilt the speaker into the listening area. Works very well for fronts and rears if you room layout permits it. The standard mounting application does recommend you put screws into your speaker from the side clamps - but you don't have to and can secure the speaker to the mount with some zipties.
3) use an Omni-mount ball/thread type mount. This mount will allow the speaker to mounted from the ceiling or high up on a wall and can still swivel/point it down into the listening area. This mount can also be adapted so that you do not have to screw a plate on the back of your speaker by using oversized washers and a second nut to create a 'sandwich' using the powerport on the rear.
Here is a shot of my setup when I had RTi4s using the Pinpoint AM-40 equivalent bracket:

And here are some shots of my RTi4s mounted from the ceiling using the Omnimount 20s:

You gotta work with what you're given for a room layout and be creative

I like those Omnimounts for my application but at $36/ea (on eBay) I'm $144 into mounting 4 speakers. Any other options?Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

Found these on eBay. Any reason to stay away? $20/pr and look decently heavy duty. Not sure it'll copy the link so I'm including the item number.

They look rugged enough.
You'll have to decide if they will work with where you want to mount the speakers - it doesn't appear from the picture that you can swivel the mount in case you need to point the speaker left/right - only up and down.
And you may have to screw that mounting plate to the back of the speaker

I figure I'll take off the bolt for the speaker plate and use that bolt with some washers to hold it to the bracket just like you did with the Omnimounts. Not worried about left to right turning as I will put in a board between my floor joists to hold the speaker wherever I want it. That's how my projector is set up and 3 years later, hasn't budged. Pretty sure my Sony projector weighs more than some bookshelf speakers.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.
