Cable Swap Idea

I was in another forum, and noticed that they had setup a small cable swap program. They have a couple retailers that offer cables for the program, so I guess it would have to be member oriented here.
Would this be of interest to any of you? This would really be an honour system program.
I figure, I would offer the first interconnect:
Signal Cable Analog 2
The first interested party would contact me. I would ship it free to their address. They get to demo the cable for 2 weeks, then the next member on the list gets it shipped from that member free also...for demo...etc etc.
After the demo, the member would have to post a small review on that cable, good or bad.
What are your thoughts on guidelines or protocol? I think this would be real neat for the forum, and allow some users to do their own demo's on cables...not just read about them.
Perhaps we can get some interest from EZC or Sight and Sound members to participate????

It sounds like a cool idea and a great opportunity for someone who's not too sure of the benefits of high quality cables for their system.
I like the idea, just not sure it would be practical for me to participate as some members have been stung by either a big brokerage bill or unreasonably high duties up to Canada.

oh come on now, we all know interconnects don't make a difference! just use those black rubber jobs that came with your DVD player

Waaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaa
I just saw this post so thanks for the bump Doro.
If the member offering the gear has no objection to a long term loan then no issue. Set a cap so no mispeceptions arise:eek:
That said, cables, electronics, speakers... any idle **** that ya got and not being used is a perfect candidate.
I'm In.

I will offer the Signal Cable Analog 2's for however long it takes to make the rounds....it is my contribution to the program.
Phone(Dave) - Is there any way we can make this happen over borders? I know that "gift" used to work....as long as its USPS, it should be ok right? I certainly wouldn't want to exclude our Canadian members.
Henry - Cables are the best idea for swap/demo material. They are relatively inexpensive, small, and easily shipped.
Please chime in here forum, and let me know what you think about this program.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Agreed... but not excluded from the program is my point.

I think it's a great idea. I've been collecting materials for some DIY designs I'd like to try. Unfortunately I haven't actually built very many yet. I too have some Analog 2's, but need them for comparing against.Make it Funky!

Henry - I got ya silly man...you are in like Flint.
Gidrah - I think that would be great, DIY would be a great offering also. I recall the CAT5 project...is that right?CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

You use the twist ties?!?!?! Actually, I can see them performing better then some the interconnects they give you...
dorokusai, just checked into customs and duties. Posted on a separate thread. It still may require a bit of a hit for the shipper. How about the borrower pays for the shipping and duties ? I haven't checked out the logistics of shipping something back over to the US though.

Dave - I just read your thread, excellent information. I will defer all info per shipping to your thread, its much more definitive.
I am working on a resolution to this problem. It's completely ludicrous, the arbitrary fees I mean.
Would you be willing to let me ship you a BS package/letter to test this theory? Its on my dime....email me dorokusai@comcast.netCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Doro - copper, shielded silver plated copper, and pure silver are all possibilities. I just need to narrow down my choices for a good RCA supplier.Make it Funky!

G - I would suggest a couple places, but I am sure that you have been all over the place already. I think the connectors will essentially be decided on what they are made of, no? Rhodium plated...gold, etc...as long as its a good material, shouldn't it work out either way? I have been looking at Cardas for my starter project. I have seriously contemplated making some interconnects.
I just ordered a real nice Weller soldering station, for the company I meanCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
This sounds like such a great idea. Unfortunately, I'm North of the border as well and the cross border fees are just rediculous, so I'm out.
It'd be interesting if someone would swap a high quality power cord to those who haven't experienced the benefits of one and read their reviews.SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070
Senn HD650 Cardas, Mapletree Audio Ear+ HD2, Kimber KS1030, Bel Canto DAC2, M-Audio Transit, Laptop. -
I've got two digital cables that I don't use anymore. Monster Interlink Datalink 100 and a Canare LV-61S with Canare 75 ohm RCA connectors. I got the Canare as a product sample for work. I've also got some DIY RG58 cables with gold RCA plugs.
So what are the rules going to be? -
