Another PSW50 Question

So I won that HT at Polkfest at Stu's house. Stuff was broke and Polk Audio gracious fixed the towers for me! Thanks!
However, the person I passed this HT on to is telling me that the PSW50 is rumbling and farting. So I looked at it and it appears that the driver's voice coil may be scraping the pole piece or something. Since this is just a PSW50, I'm not really concerned about getting it fixed by Polk Audio.
So what I would like to know is this:
1.) Are there replacement drivers still available for these and if so, where can I get one?
2.) If replacement drivers are not available, does anybody know what the impedance of the driver is so I can acquire a replacement driver for this and wire it up?
Parts Express has a couple 8" sub drivers that should be sufficient. There is an 8" Dayton DVC with dual 8 ohm VC's, a Dayton 8" 4-Ohm VC and a Peerless 8" with an 8-Ohm VC. Any one of them will work, the Peerless looks alot like what is in there now too.

I got a PSW50 that also had a blown driver. I bought this in October (but its not showing available right now) http://www.amazon.com/Pyramid-PW848USX-8-Inch-Performance-Subwoofer/dp/B000V1RLM8
It was fairly easy to install (a little trimming on the cabinet was necessary with a jigsaw), but the result is awesome. This thing hits awesomely, with great low end detail during sports events and movies. The first thing we watched with it was the Lorax and when one of the animated creatures stomped into the camera frame, it was killer - just ask my kids!
I've been super pleased with it.
Take care,

Hi, I was thinking of copying you. Did you use the amp on the psw50? You just replaced the driver?
Current polks:
Front: rt55, rt800 -- Center cs245i --
Surround: rt35 -- Rear: fx300i (dipole)

Good luck with an answer. That was his 1 and only post a year ago. Maybe someone else can chime in. Welcome to CP!

Yes, that's exactly what I did. It's been all this time and it still works amazingly well. I'm exceedingly pleased with how well it worked out. -

Wow, don't I look silly now... Thanks for polkin' back in.

Naw, I got an email notification. Besides, I really am that happy with my old Polk/Jvc setup. Its clarity and warmth rival most any other rigs I've heard. Oh, and I like the pun...

Welcome back. Glad it's working for you. That's all that matters.
