I use my system mainly for home theater use. I am looking to get more out of my sister. Which amp would you recommend starting with, the xpa-2 or xpa5? I plan to get both at some point and upgrade to a 7.1, but if you could choose just one now what would it be?

2 Polk Audio RTI 12s
Polk Audio CSI A6 center
Polk audio 2 FXI A6 rear surrounds
Pioneer sc-1222k receiver
Polk audio psw505 subwooofer

With your current setup I would go with the 5 channel amp now and add the XPA-2 when you get the other 2 speakers for the 7.1. I would use the XPA-2 on the front mains at that time. Oh btw is your sister being lazy or what's the deal? :-)

I would recommend the same thing as Dawgfish.

When I want more out of my sister, I just remind her of our childhood and threaten to go to mom and dad with it, a little bit of blackmail goes a long way

If Some maniac tied me to a chair with monster cables and had a pair of scissors ready to snip my sausage in half if I did not choose then my decision would have to be the xpa5

Yeah me too, sound like that was going to determine which one he purchased.
