just picked it up a couple hours ago, cant hook up for another day or two, but im stoked, maybe coulda done a bit better for the money, but the satisfaction of having it in hand when you pay makes up for that

AVR Yamaha RX-V765, retail 650 paid, 390 tax free,

it has pre-outs hdmi 7.2 out from receiver, out if you amp it though, decent customer reviews, hoping it will be a solid improvement over my 371, looks nice, heavy for the size, will have a review for you guys in a week or two

    Congrats! Bought a used yammy here that was 1.2 hdmi and loved the sound. Looked at the 765 a while ago and liked the features.

    Bought and oinker tx-nr5007 used and just got off the phone with their "customer service". It looses it mind everytime I turn the power off and won't produce sound until I get it to run audisey after turning it on / off about a dozen times... their response...send it in for service... drives my LSI with no problems if I can get it to run.

    just got it set up, watching some blu-rays, a little but worse so far, will take some tweaking to get dialed in, i think the ypao set my fronts to large, as i dont hear the sub very often, and heard it switch off

    yup they were set to large with a crossover of 120, changed it to small with a crossover of 80, already sounding quite a bit better

    Much better setting for Rti-4s. I run a set on an Onkyo 604 at about 80hz with a smaller 8" sub in a 12.5 x 11.5 bedroom. Almost too much for that small room!

    That Yamaha should give you a bit more punch than your previous version. And pre-outs to boot. Congrats!

    thanks cnh, like the lower feq. and smaller seting better, it also turned my sub level way down, i like a little more feel to the bass, but it wasnt bad where it was,
    yeah i saw it at first for 4 hundred and walked past it, figured a 400 yamaha wouldnt have pre-outs, and went to the pioneers they had there, then my gf pointed out the 400 wasnt for this one, so i checked it out, first i noticed how big it is, about an in bigger in each direction, and weighs about double, so i turned the display around and saw around double the connections, and then there they wer, pre-outs, turning it back around i noticed the price tag had been set under the unit, close-out, 389.99, after much arguing with the girl about how stereo is my hobby, and my interest for it meets or exceeds hers for reading, styling hair, and anything apple/mac, she let me get it, but i had to take her straight to taco bell afterwards,(her first time having it, maybe her favorite fast food)

    also my room is about the same size, havnt been able to tell to much about the extra punch, as its only 10-15 watts, i now need to re-arrange to fit thi thing somewhere, also having three speakers fairly close to corners, set the tone control to treble plus 4 and seem to be a little more even, although with rti's+ yamaha, it gets a bit bright for music at times

    ok so this new receiver kicks butt for my use, i did however have problems with audio dropout through hdmi with an xbox, tried many cable, always flickered, so i hooked it to the tv directly and worked fine, 20 minutes later tried the avr again without problems and have remained problem free. it also drives my RTi's better than the old one. this one runs warm like my old one but not as warm, it is in close with other electronics though, i think it would be beneficial if the manufacturers of AVR's put a fan in them, a small quiet one just to help airflow, not really to force it. will be doing more tweaking and tuning, cant wait to replace my speaker wire for my surrounds, the "copper" rca sucks,
