SDA-SRS Speakers and Yamaha RS700

Can someone tell me if the Yamaha RS700 receiver is a common ground receiver? I am also looking to purchase the missing interconnect cable and was wondering what I needed to know to tell Polk which type of interconnect wire I needed to purchase. Would I be able to find this out from the Serial Number? I don't believe any sort of upgrades or modifications have been done to these as my aunt was original owner.
I am also assuming I can set the Yamaha RS700 to low impedance when using a bi-wire set up. Is that correct? I just wanted to make sure before I did so I didn't blow up my new receiver or speakers.

That uses a blade/ blade interconnect cable. Thats the good news, the bad news is you are going to have problems driving those with a receiver. You are going to need a high current amp.

Hello Tally,
Welcome to Polk's forum. I tried to find the service manual for the Yamaha online and couldn't find it, the owner's manual, but not anything with a schematic. It would be best to check with Yamaha for a definitive answer. Or, if you have access to a Volt/Ohm meter (VOM) you could make a simple test yourself?
As to the interconnect cable, that is a "twin/blade" which Polk's CS department can supply at polkcs@polkaudio.com or via telephone at 1-800-377-7655. They will return on Wednesday after New Years Day.
Cheers, Ken -
Thanks for all the help guys!! I'm sure I'll have more questions here once I get the interconnect cable. I don't have a bunch of money to spend on a high current amp but do you guys have any suggestions?

The Adcom GFA555 is always a favorite.

I am going to put that on my wishlist!! I appreciate the help and quick response. Is there any way to tell what version of the SDA SRS these speakers are? I've seen a bunch of different models of it being talked about and didn't really know which one applied to this set. The serial # is SDA-SRS 2332 if that helps.

Kenneth, I am assuming since these speakers are 4 ohm that I can use the low impedance setting on my receiver, is that correct? I don't want to try it and blow these speakers or the new receiver and I'm only beginning to get into high end audio right now and still a little unsure of things.

The impedance selector on the receiver most likely adjusts the amount of current (think water flow) that the receiver can give the speaker. It's probably best to keep the selector in the higher position.

Ok thanks!

You have the original SDA SRS's
