I have seen this musical in the theater several times. I went to see the movie today with my wife and daughter. We all loved it. The perfromances were stunning in every way. The movie made the "misery" of the story situation much more realistic. It was a very moving, tragic, brutal and emotional story to see on the big screen. I never imagined Hugh Jackman could sing like he did for this movie. This film will win many Oscars. Go see it! You will not regret it!

Here's a sneak peak:

Went Christmas night, and you are right, couldn't believe Jackman or Crowe could sing. They might have found better singers but these two guys made the story very believeable. Go see it!

Was "talked into" seeing it several nights ago, and wasn't expecting to like it. Couldn't believe Russell Crowe could sing is an understatement. He was great throughout. (Isn't he the guy South Park used to make fun of all the time in "Fighting Around The World"?) And Helena Bonham Carter is always something else. I don't go to plays, had no prior knowledge whatsoever of this one. I have subsequently read some reviews that were ultra picky about this or that - whatever. Some really good acting from a top-notch cast. I enjoyed it.

What make the performances even better is that all the songs were sung "live" on the set with no overdubbing. Not a dry eye in the house, what a great film performance of the theatrical.

Amazing Movie. I usually am not too crazy about musicals but this had some incredible performances and the songs were actually understandable so you understood what was going on. Definitely emotional in parts.

Last stage musical I saw was back in the 70's ("You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown"), so normally musicals don't top my "See" list.
But I've heard a LOT of good things about Les Mis and think it is going to fall onto the "Must See" list.
My decision is not being based upon the fact that Anne Hathaway is in this production. Not totally, at least.

    Good trailer.
