Hi there,

I'm new at this home audio stuff, my house is under construction and I want to do a 5.1 system in my family room and ceiling speakers in some other rooms in the house. The builder's audio guy has pre wired the house and has put 5 ceiling cavities for speakers in the family room for the 5.1 system. I recently picked up a bunch of TC60i and thought I would use them for the 5.1 system speaker (front, centre and back) and to do the ceiling in the other rooms as well. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the club:lol: On the ceiling speakers....ehh, I donno. I don't much like 'em, seems like the sound is coming from all over but not the right places..kind of like a super market or elevator. I do believe ceiling speakers/systems were invented by people who do not like REAL AUDIO, possibly even women, who knew? MY OPINION: cap the wires (and before you do this discover exactly what wire was used) place some nice grills over the holes and be done with the built in system. And as long as you are still building run some 1' minimum conduit around under where the HT will be housed.

Speakers need to be somewhere near your ears and if not then you may as well watch plane old tv. Again, welcome, and sorry if I trashed your ideas about ceiling speakers, and this is just my opinion.:loneranger:

Thanks Michael1947, I appreciate your input. The more I research gets me questioning the audio guy the builder is using and the builder is suppose to be a high end builder. Thanks again.
