Couple of surroundbar 3000 setup questions

I have a 40" Phillips LCD - 40PFL7705DV/F7 The only audio out connection is a digital coaxial connection. To get my surroundbar to work, I had to switch from HDMI between the DishNetwork box and my tv and utilize component video. Then use the RCA audio out from the Dish box to the surround bar. It works ok, but the sound seems to lag just a tad behind the video. I'm wondering, would a better option be to go back to the hdmi between Dish and the tv, and buy a converter box to go from the digital coaxial output to Optical input on the surroundbar?
One other thing... I can't get the tv remote to program with the surround bar. I assume this doesn't matter right now since the sound isn't going to the tv anyhow. At any rate, when I use the "learn" process and try to program "volume up", it blinks rapidly but it's not green or red. It blinks the same yellow as it did when I entered the learn process.

Hello cmeyer76,
Welcome to Polk's forum. Yes, I believe the sound would be better if you could provide a digital optical input instead of what you now have. The problem with the TV remote is that it might be RF (radio frequency) instead of IR. The method to test this would be to block the front of the TV's remote with a pillow and see if the TV still responds.

Thanks Ken. I just ordered a digital coax cable and converter. I'll give that a shot. As far as the tv remote, it does not work if I block it with a pillow or my hand.

That's unusual that the SB won't learn the TV's remote. Try erasing the SB programming by putting the SB into the "standby" mode, the LED will be red. Then touch the "learn" button for a couple of seconds, the LED should turn amber and blink twice. This will erase the SB's stored memory. Now go through the learning process using the TV remote and see what happens.

Thanks again Ken. Erasing and resetting it seemed to do the trick. Now I just need to wait for my new cable and converter and hope it resolves the slight video/audio delay. Thanks for your help.

Good, I'm glad that worked, I hope the new converter solves the remaining problem.
Cheers!
