I just hooked up my new to my system Adcom 555 amp and was listening to a few albums. Everything was soundind blissful! My hands were really dry from winter and work. So I used some extreme dry hands formula. Then I cleaned the next two albums to spin . Well they sounded like crap so I inspected them and they have lotion smears on them. So I plan to clean them w a diluted soap and water mix. How do I clean my new stylus? Rubbing alcohol on a q tip? Thanks for any help. D

You can try some isopropyl alcohol on a cue tip, front to back direction. With any type of liquid cleaning, use minimal liquid to prevent it wicking up to the cantilever suspension material. It can loosen the suspension material and render your cartridge useless.

Some folks have tried liquid or "wet playing" for absolute quiet playback. Kind of messy, viscosity is a factor as is clean up...

I always thought back to front direction is the way.
I use magic eraser to clean my stylus. Never had lotion on it though.
I got static in my head

Yeah, my bad. I only use an Onzow Zerodust and avoid any type of lotion, lubricant, pizza rolls, and salsa while handling records. If I want to get lovey with the significant other, I use a digital playlist so I don't have to get up and flip the LP over.

More than ten years ago my second inguinal hernia surgery to repair the left side resulted in some nerve damage/loss of feeling below the waist. The wife was happy; I can boom-boom much longer without the gun going off.

Use nothing but 90 per cent alcohol and a modelers detailing brush, back to front on stylus. Anything less than 90 will leave residue.

this is a good one and not sure where in Minnesota your at but these guys are in the Twin Cities. If your near Brainerd, Bemdji, or St,Cloud check out the Gallery. They should have supplies for record and stylus care.
